Where should I start?
(Since I did not use an agency this post may not interest some. However, I'll try to share a few things I experienced in hopes it may inspire others on their search for a Colombian spouse).
Last November (2001) after "another" failed relationship with "another" Mexican American woman I started looking on the web for another Latina woman and came across, Good Wife and then Planet-love. I was immediately inspired to visit Colombia, namely Cali. So, I started comparing all the web sites, their prices, their services, etc, etc. Well, during my search I came across a sight (MIssLatinas) which was offering a limited time "free" membership. I went inside and saw a young lady named Claudia who is a Christian like myself and decided to write as her email and phone were posted. We seemed to find enough interest in each other to write to one another till I called her in early Feb. (once I was out of school and established). My Spanish was terrible and I started working on that right away purchasing CDs, Cassettes, a textbook and a dictionary. As time proceeded I knew I had to visit to see her. I went with my gut feeling that she was what I was looking for and decided not to stay at an agency, but at her house at the invitation of her parents.
So, Here I am in Cali,(April 20-28) Colombia thinking what the freak am I doing here as the plane is landing. I pass thru immigration and am stopped by a soldier who searches my bag, then tells me I can go. Outside the glass doors I see her. Her pictures did not come close to showing this womans beauty. I am greeted by a kiss from her, her sister and her niece. All three were knock outs. A young man, a friend of the family had driven them to pick me up. I arrived at the House in Barrio Calima Street Sixty Seven - she lives a half block from La Catorce (14). I come into thier humble home and am treated like a king, what hospitality! We spend the next few hours chatting then retire for the evening. I am thinking as I am drifting off to sleep ~ this is going be something!!!!
