... in response to Re: Last Minute Moscow Advice Wanted, posted by Rags on Apr 21, 2002TGIFRIDAYS near REd Square, I remember it well...one place to have an American meal in Moscow, but a little expensive compared to USA prices. They speak English very well there.
My advice, go out and travel like a Russian...get away from the tourist places and see the city by Metro and Tram. If you meet a nice girl (like I did) she will be happy to take you to all of the sites and see them in a different way.
Do not be afraid to go out to eat in Russian places, you will save a lot of money and the food is good if you have someone order for you. I was suprised as to how many places will speak to you in English, you will not be treated like you are out of place..although I always felt I had the "made in the USA" sign on my forehead every where I went.
Mkae sure you take "new" USA money, 10's and 20's are accepted at kiosks everywhere, You will not have any problem finding money exchange kiosks throughout town. The exchange rate fluctuates from one place to another, so find a good one and stick with it...."DO NOT TAKE TRAVELERS CHEQUES" you will get raped on the fees and exchange rates.
Have fun...I know I did...I married a Moscow girl!
