... in response to You want hotdogs with that?, posted by Dave H on Jan 24, 2001

Dave,
Yep, "Peacha" has replaced "Pizza" all over the Philippines as far as I have seen.   I have heard rumors that in some remote parts of the Philippines, "CHOC-o-Late Peacha" is even popular!  Smiley  (Call me strange, but I could sit happily for an hour and just listen to Filipinas pronounce the word "chocolate"!)  Same with the hotdogs in Spaghetti too.   Since Melly has been here though we have invented our own unique version of spaghetti that is probably just as strange though so I can't laugh at the hotdog thing.  I even kind of like the hotdogs that way.  We make spaghetti with piles of cut up vegetables cooked with the meat - approx. 2 parts vegetables to 1 part meat.
I never tried any of the Philippine unique items on the menu when we went to McDonalds in Manila, preferring to get the familiar BigMac during the rare chances to taste American food during that month long trip!   Somehow it just doesn't seem decent to eat anything with rice in it at McDonalds!   Smiley

Steve G

I'd Like to hear a filipina pronounce Chocolate also  I'm sure it is interesting. My former French Chefs Give it a nice spin also.  Today it took me 2 minutes to figure out that what my Austrian chef was Saying was Baklava  ha ha ha.

While Chocolate Mole' Chicken is a traditional Mexican dish. Chocolate pizza sounds funky.  Although Little Ceasers did chocolate ravioli  and we have done chocolate sushi as a dessert before.

Hi Steve,

Thanks! I thought maybe I was dreaming again. Shocked) I know what you mean about the word chocolate. I would buy a ton of CHOC-o-Late just to hear my fiancee pronounce it. Soooo sexy! Sexual CHOC-o-Late (Mark Henry weight lifter -TV wrestler). Filipinos are into TV wrestling. Many called me "Stone Cold." I wanted my fiancee to call me Sexual White CHOC-o-Late. She laughed and whimpered a cute little "nooooo." I tried to get her to call me "the other white meat" also. Pork being #1 in the Philippines. Again no luck. ;O) I settled on trying to find ways to trick her into saying "CHOC-o-Late." Shocked))

Pork Does A Body Good.

CHOC-o-Late, melts in your mind, not in your hand (hopefully). Shocked)

Dave "CHOC-o-Late Pork" H.

Dave,

Ask her to pronounce "shrimps". Let me know if it comes out anything like "shyrms". It sounds so cute :-)

Actually, a software engineer can get 50-60K depending on the market and what school he/she came from.  I entered the market at 21K 13 years ago (a step up from $3.10/hr at the supermarket).

Is that in American or Canadian Dollars?  -- Ouch I couldn't resist.  Actually I grew up close to Ontario and I am working now for a Canadian Company.

Money won't bring you happiness.  While it may increase your comfort level, money also has the tendency to make your life more complicated and problematic.

By your standards, I am a poor but content pastry chef who would rather have brown on his hands (chocolate) than the brown on your nose it will take to earn your precious salary.  Just because you have all the degrees in the world doesn't mean that they are going to throw money at you.

Hi W.B.,

I agree! I too was  always better at keeping the brown (chocolate)on my hands and in my mouth. Some people seem to like to have it smeared all over their noses. I guess someone has to do it. Better them than us. :*)

When you get your first job out of school, please come back here and post your starting salary.

Why do you assume that some here are angry or jealous of your "wants"? You seem to assume that most of the men on this forum are a bunch of uneducated low-income wannabees who are jealous of your impending degrees? ROTFLMAO!

That just shows how little you really know about us. You seem to be so wrapped up in yourself that I’m sure you don’t want to know, which is just fine with me. I raised three daughters who have all gone through that 21-year-old know-it-all phase that you are in now. Thank God they have all grown out of it!

But please stay around and continue to place your foot in your mouth. We haven’t had this much fun since our last troll died and went to hell :-)
