Looking for input
« on: September 30, 2010, 11:54:06 AM »
Let me introduce myself.  I am KenC a long long time member here and at RWD.  Back in the days when Dan was just another dude here looking for answers and giving some too. ;D  Long story short (as possible) I married a stunning RW back in 99.  Had quite a good long run but it all ended in 2008.  We parted friendly without a lot of drama.  The root of our troubles IMO was her changing her mind to have childrem while I did not.  It was a hell of a run for our age difference of 26 years again IMO.

So now after a couple of years of pure hell in my life (divorce, business going down the crapper and severe health issues) I am back on my feet and wanting female companionship.  Love if I can find it.   :o

After briefly dipping my toes into the American dating pool, I wanted to kill myself! Yuck!  Dan has always advocated Asian women and I had always turned a blind eye to it.  No more.  I realized that Asia women tend to age much better than AW and RW.  Of course I am still attracted to the hot youngins too (Who isn't) but do not want to repeat my past mistakes (wanting kids).

Any way, here I am 58 and snooping into Cherry Blossoms (again at the suggestion of Dan).  Please keep in mind while I am a total rookie to the Asian scene I have been involved with international dating for over 12 years now.  I am sure the Asian scammers have no more trick going for them than the Ruskis do. ;D  After joining CB I have been totally slammed with responses.  I am talking like 400 in just a few days.  Holy sh!t!  Any way, I am now in this up to my neck now. 8)

At first I was looking for an "age appropriate" woman to bring here to America.  I know the drill with that.  But then  began to develop a half azzed plan that seems kind of "out there" even for me.  In researching the PI, I came across a lot of info about relocating there.  I would only consider PI because of the language issue FYI.  I am looking to you, more experienced men here, to give me the straight dope on things.  Here is some of my first questions to you all:

Can a guy live well there for a limited amount of money?  I have a retirement now, above average but not huge numbers like I earned before.

Where would be a good place to live there?  Not looking for an urban lifestyle that is go go go and if a beach front is involved GREAT!

Any input into living there would be appreciated greatly.

Any info regarding medical care and costs there would also be very helpful to me.  I am fine now, but after my past episodes I need to be more concerned now.

Not to ruffle any PC feathers here, but are these women as compliant as they appear?  I mean I am in shock coming from the high maintenance RW.

I guess that is a good start for now.  I am planning on a visit most probably in November too.  So anyone with helpful tips on staying there for 2 to 4 weeks would also be great.

Have at it, guys.

Hi Ken,

A couple of points:

Most all Filipina ladies will want to have children, regardless of what they say up front. I would concentrate on the older (40+) ladies who are somewhat less likely to be fertile or thinking of children. Tell all of them up front that you definitely do not want children and/or get yourself snipped now.

If health care is a big concern, then your only logical choice will be living in one of the larger cities, preferably across the street from a major private hospital. Living in the provinces in a beachfront home is not very expensive and probably much better for your health in the long run, but if you should ever have a heart attack or major stroke for example, just consider yourself dead because there will likely not be any sort of adequate emergency care available.

You can live quite comfortably on $1,500-$2,000/month.

Now I’ll let Dave H fill you in on all the facts…  :D

Try pretty much ALL,  ;D   if they don't have kids!  Pinays love children and their family will never understand you and your wife not having them!  Family is the center of Filipino life.

Find an older Pinay or marry one with kids!

Wow KenC, you are truely a PL dinosaur!
Congrats on the good run you had with the Russian gal, and good luck with your new Asian adventures!

Changing one's mind on wanting or not wanting a child is definitely a marriage killer.  It speaks well of you, that she wanted to have the child with you and give you that opportunity before the breakup.  As Vin Scully were posting here he would say, 'The best laid plans of mice and men', if you can remember that story!

Hey Ken. I remember you from the old days. Welcome back. I'll let the PI pros fill you in on the specifics, but I'm sure you'll find Asia extremely different from the FSU, and you're right, the babushka gene in Asian women doesn't kick in until they're in their 70s or 80s.

Thanks man!  Harry the horse site is a trip!  The filipinawives was very informative and I have already seen the livinginfilipines site, which is where I got most my info from.  Still need to study the Cebu one.

Ray,
All good points made by you.  I have already sent Dave H a PM before posting here (as per Dan's suggestion)  Been snipped many a year ago and the concept of kids will certainly be addressed up front.  As for the health care, my problems need to be monitored on a semi-monthly basis and emergency care can always come up, of course, but will not be related to the current issues.  So as long as I can get tested every month or so, I should be cool.  Thanks for the input.

Well good to have ya here Ken.
sounds to me like a late 30's province lady mite fit you to a T
how about a nurse? there are thousands of them there that mite want to take you home & treat you like a king!
on the small island where my wife is from you can rent a house rite in town for $100 a month
it's just a short walk to the beach. i was told by one of the long time retired Germans that resides there that if you own a house there you can live quite nicely on about $300 a month.
FYI: a new house rite on the beach can be had for 120k or less in the province
I myself would rather be 1/2 way up the hill overlooking the beach
that way the yearly typhoons will not cause me any trouble.

Bad idea!

Most Filipinos killed from typhoons usually die in mud slides caused by the heavy rains.

You do not want to be half way up on a hillside or below one unless you want to get buried alive.

Ahhh--to live near the sea and to worry about perishing or leaving and losing your 'stuff' to the mud or out with the tide.... ???

At least on Mindanao, they don't get those horrific typhoons and Bohol doesn't get them as bad as places closer to Luzon...

Wow.  KenC is a name I haven't heard in a long time.  Welcome back!  Though sorry it is under such circumstances.  Yeah, those Russkaya can be stubborn and high maintenance.  You'll be pleased as the difference I think with East Asian women.

I can't imagine any childless Asian girl ever willing to go without having children at some time.  And if you do find some girl on-line willing to say "sure, I'm okay with never having kids", run, because she is setting you up for a visa shark scam.  As soon as she gets her green card, she'll pull a runner and find some guy who does want kids.
Your best bet is a woman who is not more than 20 years your junior who is either entering menopause or already has older children (preferably grown so are no longer dependent on mama).  Not to worry though, an Asian woman in her late 30's or early 40's will still look like she's in her 20's.  Do you see that teenager sitting next to Robert in his profile pic?  She's actually 50!  I'm tellin' ya.  He's been arrested twice for lewd behavior with a minor for engaging in smoochie PDA's with his wife at the mall.

Bingo!  Now you know why I am here  ;D

Just FYI, in a VERY preliminary stage, I "met" a gorgous 44 yo that looks like a 24yo.  At this point of my life I am done raising kids.  I did 3 so far, 2 I fathered and one I married.

Anyone got any inside info on Cagayan De Oro?

It's been a while since I was there, but Dave H goes there often.

Lots of info on the Web or do a forum search for "Cagayan" and "CDO"

Ray,
Have already researched it on the web: "Paris of the Philipines, $2 billion new sea port being built, 5 malls bla bla bla.  Just wanted more of an insiders view of it.  As far as Dave H is concerned, so far I think he is just an urban legen here because I have not seen hide nor hair of the man. ::)

I would make sure that there was one hell of a big ditch further up the hill so the water would run down it.
also a couple of good stout retaining walls further up the hill might not be a bad plan either.
