... in response to Things to do and places to eat in Odessa, posted by Jeff on Oct 26, 2002Red Lobster, no I'm not joking, this place is a restaraunt/bar apparently owned and ran by a former sea captain. I haven't been there in the past two years, but the food was always good, fresh and the prices reasonable. I still remember the last thing I ate there; it was wild mushrooms saute'd in white wine sauce served inside crepes with a side salad (or grass, for those who don't know, "grass" is one of those ism's often used to describe anything green and leafy, cooked or otherwise) and a glass of Ukrainian white wine. The name---well I suppose that comes from the dried/petrified lobsters in a fishing net hung from the ceiling. Sorry, I don't remember the street address, but any cab driver should know where it's at. There a lot of little family owned "hole in the wall cafe's in Odessa, I had my first dish of Siberian pelmeni (sp?) in one of these places-actually a cellar under a apartment building. I love that stuff, but I always taste it for to or three days afterward.
Did she actually live in Odessa or just the area around it?
regards,
Lynn
