Fellow posters. I posted some time ago that I was able to get good prices from Air-K
Travel for my Turkey visit in April. I checked all over the Internet at Expedia, etc., for
my upcoming trip to St. Petersburg. Then I went back to Jeffrey at Air K and he was
able to beat the other prices by some $200-300. My price was $765 for Chi to SPb via
London for early September travel. His price quote includes all taxes and shipment of
tickets to you via DHL (but be sure to ask for this service, otherwise they send via
regular mail . . . . . Uh Oh). The phone number is 1-800-865-5249.
Previously I read here that someone got tickets to SPb for around $550 for October
travel. And, for sure, prices do drop as the winter months come.
While I was searching around for this ticket, I came across a web site that lists many,
many other ticket consolidators such as Air-K. For those of you who feel better dealing
with someone closer to home, below is the complete list. . . . . Enjoy.

Airline ticket wholesalers are known as "consolidators." These wholesalers buy up
large blocks of tickets at a very low cost. In an attempt to get at least some money for
every available seat, the airlines sell these tickets to the consolidators "wholesale" at
discounts of up to 90 percent. Some of these consolidators sell directly to the general
public. Others act only as wholesalers to travel agencies. In any case, the cost of the
tickets are marked up to give the consolidators and travel agents a profit when you buy
from them. Even so, you can save some very serious dollars buying from them.
If you don’t want to deal directly with a consolidator . . . ask your travel agency about a
consolidator ticket. Your agent usually has contacts with a large number of
consolidators and can get you the bargain ticket you want at a small mark up from what
you could buy it for directly from a consolidator. Consolidators are an excellent source
for last-minute deals when you want to fly within the next few days. You can easily beat
the terrible penalty you ordinarily pay when you want to fly less than three weeks from
the time you make a reservation. One note here on the down side of buying
consolidator tickets. Most of the tickets do not give you frequent flyer mileage. The
dollars you save however, may make this a moot point.
