Hi Denvermike,

you told us you live in Chile. What's the letest news there?
Is it true that chile is the ONLY country NOW without serious economical problems.
I mean Argentina was pretty ok even some 5-6 years ago...and look to Arg. now!!!
How long you'd be living there DM?

Is there any change we'd 'steel away" some nice women??

Truely Chile is a country which rarely hits the tabloibs.

Was In Argentina, and allthough the situation was poor I found out that very few women are realy wanting to "get out" by marrying a forreign dude. Great looking women, but to me they weren't not very sweet. In fact I still think they are bigtime SNOBS.

How did you end up in Chile??

HC.

Hi Guys,

The economy is somewhat depressed right now with the downfall of both Argentina and Brazil since Chile trades with both of them.  The price of copper is very low which really hurts the economics of this place.  But in general things are very stable.  Chile has the best economic conditions in SA. It has been stable for several years now.

I was transferred here about a year ago. I work in the mining industry. I love it here, you would have to drag me back to Denver.  Beside the skiing is fantastic this winter.

I have a few friends in Argentina and things are very bad. It is very discouraging to lose most of the value of your money nearly over night (hey wait a minute that sounds like my 401k in the last few months!).

What a difficult assignment, forced by his company to take a transfer to Chile where he recieves a US salary.Has to live in a luxury apartment provided by them.Chilelas never give him a rest. Its a tough job but somebody has to do it.
A guy could get hit by a meteor waiting for that to happen to him.

Hey Pete,

It is even better than that.  I also get a nice uplift on a gringo salary for a foreign assignment, my company pays for my apartment, plus I get $1500 a month tax free for living expenses, and local ladies are very friendly. I'm not sure it could get any better than that.  I just hope it lasts!

As I have been saying, It is like being a ski patrolman at Vail, it is a tough job but someone "gets" to do it!!

take care,
mike
