Soltero mentioned requesting a list of women scammers from Cali. I have a photo list of Barranquilla women that I have removed for scamming.

What do you do about the gringos who are jerks?

    Dress like slobs
    stand up women
proposition them on the first date
interview them from a prepared text
    threat the ladies with disrespect.

Haha.  At the risk of stating the obvious, I think you just described 97% of men in general.  There already is a list of them; an arcane manual known as "The White Pages".

i love that one about interviews from a prepared text. i have seen that a few times - usually older men with pro translators in accompany. i cant see what the woman would see in these guys. the questions they ask are ridiculous

Obviously.  Some people approach dating like hiring an employee.

No one can suppose that what a woman must sift through to meet a man worthy of her if less than our challenge.

Every agency has people who love it and people who hate it.  And some women may date a man a few times and decide he's not for them (or meet someone else) and people label her dishonest.

There are no guarantees in this endeavor.  Just enjoy the game and maintain your sense of humor.  And take your time, a lesson that I learned the hard way.

I am sure that those of us here who are serious about finding a partner for life appreciate this effort immensely. Thank you. Your posts have always been objective, honest, fair and educational. I had not strongly considered Barranquilla before, but knowing that there is an agency owner like you there has increased my interest in that city a thousand fold. There are beautiful and sincere women everywhere. The problem is finding them (or finding the right one that fits you). It is good to know there is someone out there who is truly trying to help in this quest.

Soltero, i really like BQ – I feel safe and comfortable there. You should consider it - and i may return soon. Trust me, it is by far NOT the most beautiful city in Colombia – fairly ugly place and the beaches are crappy. You would need to take a taxi to Cartagena or Santa Marta for the beach. It is also very HOT! But it is cheap and easy to get around and there are a ton of  women. I have often stayed at the Versalles hotel. It is cheap, friendly, and clean in a central location. I have also stayed at the Barranquilla Plaza and El Prado – much nicer hotels with pools but more than double the Versalles. Things to do include drinks, dancing, dining and nice views at Piso 26 on top of the BQ Plaza and going to the mall with your date and see a flick sitting in "first class seating." Regarding agencies, I normally turn to my friends at LDT. Their website is a bunch of hype but they have a good staff especially Susy and plenty of women and will negotiate. Jamie and I had a spat in the past over his services but I like the initiative he is taking here – so report back if you use him.

Oye Papi, always good to hear from the "man about town" so to speak. You are a walking, talking Colombian brochure. I had planned on being in Colombia around February or March, but I have been corresponding with someone who has me interested enough to try to make the trip sooner. I am the type of person who responds well to what I view as sincerity in others, and I would make the trip to BQ just off of the strength of what Jamie has posted here because I feel that he would definitely be an ally in the search, but my main interest is in Cali right now. Until the day I say "I do", I am keeping my options open so I appreciate as usual, anything you have to offer as far as the "low down" on any place you have been to.

Yes, someone here referred to it as going on a Papi walkabout – another equated me with running through woman like goose shit. I did bring someone back with me a few years ago from Cali and lived with her for quite some time but I was not in love. Almost married her but just could not bring myself to do it. Since then I have had too many relationships and can’t seem to pull it together. I think the process is a lot harder than one might expect. Anyway, not sure of my next plans but really thinking about making an effort to see if I can tap into the Miami scene. Cali makes me a little nervous these days – it just not feel as safe as other places I have visited but I guess if yu stay with a good agency and keep a low profile you should not have any problems. Pete could fill you in on Cali. If you do go to BQ, also consider LDT  along with Jamie. you would increase your odds on the appt front.

That someone who referred to the Papi Walkabout was me. Take it as a compliment. If I had the means I would join you. I won't go as far as Kented as to call you and Pete E heroes, but you two are definitely the ones who are contributing the most actually useful information in my opinion. No disrespect to the other posters, but you two are in the trenches so to speak and are very generous with letting the rest of us know what is going on. Besides...I never got my Papi decoder ring either...what a jip...(lol)...As far as finding what you are looking for, I wish nothing but the best for you in that respect...just keep letting us know how the search is going and enlightening us with whatever you come in contact with during the process as always. Thanks.

Actually soltero I would recommend Barranquilla myself. I just spent the
last 30 days there to visit my wife. If you get out and see the place you will be
surprised. Go out walk around see the people as they really are if you do not
meet a girl on your own I would be very surprised. Avoid the bars, go to the
store just look around. I had a young woman that was trying to sell me
batteries with a free snickers bar. I explained I did not know alot of Spanish, I
got the biggest smile I ever saw. The people are very friendly and I really like the town
myself.
One thing to look out for is when it rains... Clay was right on one thing the
streets turn into rivers when that happens you will not take a cab any where.
If you want to go to the beach, there are some beaches in Barranquilla they
are not that good but they were not that bad. If you want to go to Santa Marta
find out the bus system it is alot cheaper than trying to pay for a taxi and
again it helps you get to know the Colombians there...

Thanks for the info and insight. I will be going to Cali first, but I definitely might swing by BQ if I can.

i thought the beach was super crappy in BQ. much nicer in CTG or better yet San Andres. i had better luck meeting woman in Cali outside the agency than in BQ but it is doable there also - i did date someone from the gym in BQ. i also concur on the streets turning to rivers. i like BQ - it is easy to get around, cheap and i feel safer than in cali

Yea the beach was not the best... in fact as the day wore on I could not
believe how much trash was washing up on shore.
