The Cutting Edge of the Law
To me watching Univision has been a necessary evil. It really helps improve my ability to understand spoken Spanish but all their programing is novelas (soap operas). These are hard to follow since they are daily and you can't miss one day without losing the story. Plus they have six or more stories running at once and it would be hard to follow the plots even if they were in English.
I had read in People en Espaņol that Univision was producing an original drama series, "Al Filo de la Ley". Well it's on at 9PM in Phoenix on Tuesday and I saw the first episode tonight. It's a lawyer show ( a little like LA Law). Tonight's episode was about vigilantes who patrol the border and assalt illegal border crossers.
It is a fairly decent drama, much better than novelas. I didn't catch every single word but I could follow the story. If your Spanish is intermediate and you think you're ready for Univision, I would recommend "Al Filo de la Ley" as being about as entertaining and as easy to follow as I have found.
