FYI, I found this news about Emerald Cowboys, the new movie based on the 1986 book:
-press release about the movie
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030731/lath126_1.html
-website for the movie
http://www.emeraldcowboys.com
It's supposed to have wide U.S. release in late Sep/early Oct. Supposedly it's the first American film shot in Bogota in 26 years and probably the first film ever to go deep into the Colombian countryside. The author's daughter is one of the producers so I hope it presents a balanced view of the troubled, violent but beautiful country.
The music on the movie's website sounds promising; a little bit like the successful soundtrack for "Men without Guns."
