I'de like to report a scammer. How do i do this?
I started communicating with Kenia Cristini Venancio (Last name says Verna on the brasilgirls.com website)
http://www.brazilgirls.com/nuevas4/KeniaCristinaVerna.jpg
We started communicating  in march 2002 and by the middle of november she was ready to meet and said she
had a work visa to come in and also had money for the flight, but needed $300 for luggage and cloths to come
see me. I sent it to her (i also sent $100 two months before because she said she was very ill and had no money)
Well, She was supposed to let me know what her arrival date was going to be (around Dec 1st.)
I haven't heard from her since Nov. 12th.
Not only that, but her hotmail address which was the only way i have ever communicated with her, is not valid
anymore. (actually I spoke with her on the phone once in april 2002.)
Needless to say ; I'm really pissed.
I know it's my fault and i have nobody to blame but me
Taken

We had only one woman scammer in the first 5 years our site ran, then within the last six months, two more.  I think some of these ladies are becoming professionals at the game.

They used a similar scam, "send me money to come visit you", then disappeared.  At least their still fairly rare and men who take the simple precaution of not sending money to someone they don't know have no problem with them.

If you'd like to report this woman, I'd start by telling the site you contacted her through.

Rule Number One of many.........

If a girl ask you for money that you have never met it is always a scam.....you really do not have to report this to the board.....most guys on this board know this...

I am sorry you got scammed though....some guys have been taken for thousands.

I wasn't posting my scam to teach others a lesson; I realize I'm a newbie and have only been to Brasil and Venezuala once. I was posting it in case others make contact with this b*tch. ...Which may not happen cuz most out here are columbomaniacs. I am too, but felt it would be safer in Brasil.

Sending money to someone you have never met is asking to be taken. You don't know you aren't dealing with a 50 year old housewife with a part time income scamming gringos.
It points out the problems of getting way ahead of youself via internet.Even if she had showed up there is a strong possibility that it would have been immediate no chemistry.
I guess I don't understand guys unwillingness to travel to meet women face to face.It seems like there is a thinking it can all be by internet or maybe there is not much commitment to finding that woman of your dreams.Sending $400 is just a baby step away from no commitment to the process at all.
Now going to a place like Brazil with not much for agencies
it might be needed to establish some contacts by internet.
But even then I would not go with just one woman in mind. You need to have several to choose from or a backup plan to meet others.Going is a commitment of time and money so you want to try and make the most of it.
There is no substitute for meeting women face to face.Internet contacts just set that up,thats all.Untill you meet them you don't know what you got.To get way ahead before that point can be a waste of time, emotion and in your case money.
Also,if you want to meet latin women you should have some interest in latin culture.Going is half the fun.Don't try to shortcut around it.Also you can meet the girls family, almost as important as meeting her and way ahead of internet fantasy where it is so easy to decieve.
Butt on the plane is really the only way to do it with much of a chance for success and its so much more interesting than wet dreams in front of your computer.Thats living in a fantasy world.

No you should not feel bad. Lots of guys have done it. When I was at Latin-Internet one time I was talking with another guy and the subject of a girl I'd commununicated with from Quito who appeared in the TLC catalog came up. He was shocked to find she was writing to other men. He'd sent her $200. She turned out to be the 50 year old housewife.

No you don't,you are just learning.Everything we do we either get what we want or a valuable lesson.Don't get down on yourself. We all make mistakes, and there are plenty of others that can be made in this process.
See my post above about Butt on the plane.
You can be successfull here, its almost guaranteed in fact. You just need to learn how to play the game.

I think the fundamental rule is you should not even fly to visit much less send money to a girl you've never spoken to on the phone on various occaisions. Internet communication and even hand written letters don't go very far as proof that a real girl exists. I found out the hard way once.

NEVER, EVER send money to someone you have not met in person, and then only in dire circumstances... I guess you know that now... Not the $400 is going to break you, but you have lost the emotional investment you made in this girl...

Climb back on the horse and start over... This time, take some time and go to brazil...

My 2 cents...

The really interesting thing will be if LatinEuro.com removes her photo!!!  I have heard about this same girl.  she tried to start a con with someone I knew.  The tip was she responded to an email about 9 months after he wrote to her. She as asking for money or something.

I don't think anyone should blame you for doing what you thought was best. Afterall, we haven't heard about a lot of scammers from Brazil so its probably unlikely that anyone should be really suspicious.  But know we know.

As I said the real issue is whether or not Latin.com/Blackgirls.com removes the girls photo and stops accepting money for it.

I know for a fact that B9619 on page376 was kicked out of other agencies for the same kind of antics.

I personally have been bothered by another scammer emails from Samatha Carrilho B1027 from LatinEuro page 259. Recently got one a few days  ago asking for money for her child that was very sick yada yada -I forwarded the first letter to latineuro.com a few months ago and received a free addy for my trouble.  The girl is still listed on the site however.

I realize that agency's can't be held responsible for the womans actions, but when they receive complaints, they should remove the ladies photos?   But thats my opinion.

I think the girl you mention even has two different photos on LatinEuro.com.  the latter one being posted about 2-3 months ago.

Keep your head up and don't let one bad experience get you down.  Keep searching at LE and the other agency's as well.

if Brazil is your thing remember there are a few other agencies you can use as well as LatinEuro.com

brazilintro.com
latinsocialnetwork.com
agenciadenamoro.com
girlsofbrasil.com
firepassion.com

Good luck

... in response to Re: SCAMMER!!! UPDATE!- more scammers ex..., posted by Onephd on Dec 15, 2002

I actually was in brasil for 10 days in may, but didn't go to Goiania to see Kenia. I keep thinking about how was sooo not going to send her money and when i told her she should understand that it is very hard for me to send someone that i don't really know at all money; she was very hurt that i didn't trust her etc....
Scammers everywhere; even in small villages in Gioania Brasil....
I wrote to Lourdes and am asking her to remove BOTH her ads.
Learned my lesson and will be more cautious now,
