after reading so many stories about how many times you have visit the embassy, all the extra trips, i wonder why anybody would do it, when the K1 is so much easier, and sometimes, just as quick.

Mudd,
I agree with you in that I would prefer the K1 route although I am getting married in Cali.  The main reason I am marrying there is so her family can see her married.  Personally I think with the exception of aquiring the marriage visa from the Colombian consulate, the spouse visa may be more simple than the K1.  I also think I could save a bunch of money by following the K1 path.

One other big difference to keep in mind is her status entering the country.  I think the hard part (as far as processes go) is over in Colombia by using the spouse visa.

why dont you bring her on a K1, get married here, file an advance parole, and go  back and get married in Cali? that is what we are doing. i wantd the three months of time together here, not just a few weeks in her city.

At least you get 90 days together here in the US before you have to tie the knot.  In our case, we took full advantage of the 89 of those days before we married.  Each of us wanted to be sure before we married.

If the lady agrees to it, I think it's the best way to go.  The more time you can spend together before marrying, the better.
