Hi everyone. I am from the Eastern Europe Forum. At that forum there is a lot of talk about scammers, how to detect them etc. There is also talk about failed marriages etc. but no one has statistics about all of this. There is even a forum other than the one that I frequent here that is mainly guys who have been burned by Russian women..

My question is --- do you hear much of this type of thing with the Latin ladies?

Thanks,

Greg

TheSearch,

Check out the press releases on http://www.loveme.com (a foreign affair's) web site.  I forget which  article, I think it was the BBC, or the Sacramento Bee, but they listed some numbers on failed marriages, scams and etc.

As well, and if you're really interested, I think you can contact the State Department, i.e. INS, and they should be able to give you some type of rough numbers.

As for the chicas, novias, and latin mommies, it's my take that Latin's in general are much more into family, and thus, you're probably not going to find as many whom you'd  just a soon leave where they came from.

I think the number/ratio of postings on http://www.loveme.com should give you a good indication of what your chances are.  AFA post approx. 150 to 200 new women a week, which is near or almost past the 50k mark of active women seeking, but less then five percent, approx. 2k are Latin, and about 2,5k Asian.  Check the left hand column of the general search page if you don't believe.
That leaves a remaining 40k who come from former East block countries, and a much higher chance of getting a VERY BAD APPLE!

Of course, there are bad apples in every bussel, and I think the the sheer wealth of opportunities for either of these groups of woman would create a lot of motivation to be less then a lady. '-)

fyi, In the US there is roughly 2 to 4 radios, cd player, or tape decks in every household, in Colombia there is less then ONE radio for every TWO households.

Keep TheSearch alive, for your destiny, and let us know how it goes!

Many of the scam stories you'll hear about may be simply due to things not working out in a marriage and the man thinking the lady was in it for the green card.  This may, or may not be true for each case and we hear only one side of the story.

There's very few Latin services that provide email forwarding with translation like many do in the Russian area.  I think that type of service is more prone to fraud since a site can simply post photos and write the emails themselves.  I believe that's the most prevalent scam going on with Russian agencies.

I think there's quite a few more guys doing the Russian thing than the Latin or Asian, so the quantity of scam stories from that board may be in part due to the higher number of particpants.

I joined the Anastasia agency just to post a profile. I am still receiving on average 80 emails per week. I seriously doubt that that many women are actually taking the time to email me. I think the agency is most likely trying to get the ball rolling. Oh by the way, it costs 8 bucks a pop to read an email and even more to send one. I realize that translation is necessary but 8 bucks? I couldn't possibly afford to pay to read all of the emails sent. I just have my doubts as to the legitimacy of these emails...

Yes I agree. It simply has to do with numbers. I think %wise you stand equal chance of being burned by a latina as you do by a russian. So if you have realistic expectations and have something to offer you should be ok with either one.

Latinas are more exposed to Western/US culture. A great majority of the CIS country's ladies have VERY limited experience with Western guys, unless you go to St. Pete, Moscow or Kiev, where alot of them have at least a little, sometimes a bunch of history with westerners. If you are a NORMAL guy with realistic expectations, then you will do very well in either place. The trophies can burn you wherever you go.If you expect to be worshiped because your grocery store has 19 brands of coffee, you'll be very disappointed. Also, there are generally so many more CIS ladies involved in looking for an American/Canadian. I really feel that the real gems are the normal appearing ladies from places like Santander, Columbia,or Kazan, Russia, or Sumy, Ukraine because almost no one goes there.I have placed a personal ad for the CIS ladies and have received relatively few responses from places like St. Pete or Moscow, but at least 150 in the past month from more out-of-the-way places. BTW, I was married to a Russian for 7 years, engaged to another for awhile, and currently have a girlfriend from Cali. Use your head!!! The big one.

Good common sense.  Unfortuantely, that's lacking in some men looking for a foreign wife.  Minimizing the likelyhood of a scam is easy......

Don't send money to someone you don't know.
Don't go for arm candy over character.

The hardest part for some is just having common sense and good character judgement.
