I received an E-mail from an organization called LatinIntro www.latinintro.net which has a holiday special where you get a lifetime membership for $375.  When I clicked on the pictures in their link to view the latest members, I got all of the women of Latin American Introductions.  However, on the Latin Amercian Introductions website the lifetime membership is $975.  That is a significant difference in price for the same service.  If you are signing up, make sure to do it using the LatinIntro website.  Good luck.

from the horses' mouth, Smiley

LI has an arrangement with LAI in Bogota. The current arrangement is that members of LI can use the services of LAI but are required to stay with LAI at $70/night (6 nights minimum). However, members of LI are not members of LAI. What does this mean? Well for example, if LAI decides to discontinue the arrangement with LI, LI must find another agency to send their clients to in Bogota.
Hope this clears things up.

Latin Introductions has affiliate agreements with Latin American Introductions Agency in Bogota and also a agency in Cali run by Maritza Bueno. With your onetime membership you can visit either office in Bogota or Cali. There is also a affiliate in Lima, Peru.
The holidays are always a great time to enjoy Colombia...especially during the Christmas / New Year's time.  www.latinintro.net

I just returned from Latin American Introductions in Bogota... When there I asked Nelson specifically which agencies LAI is affiliated with in Cali... He told me that they are associated with Latin Best, Luz Amparo... This is also what is provided in the LAI promotional information...

You may want to talk to Nelson to straighten this out...

I recognize some of those photographs from the old Latin-Internet site.  I think one of the employees left, took some of the assets, and then started Amor In Cali. This must be a successor agency.

If this isn’t legitimate, I think its important that somebody from LAI verify one way or the other (since they read this board).  The women that the link points too are current women who just signed up at LAI.  And the address is coming from what use to be and I was under the impression still is their Florida affiliate.

Maybe Nelson of LAI will come on and give us a complete explanation, but I think I know part of the story as I have talked to him about other sites that use LAI girls.  I believe latinintro.net is an American reseller who works in conjunction with many agencies.  I don't know how the deal that they are pitching for $375 compares to the $975 price LAI charges for a full membership.  I do notice it says hotel stay extra.  When you stay at LAI on a tour which costs $675 I think, everything is included including hotel.  At $50 a night saved (yes I think the rooms are a bit high at Charlie's place as I stay at the Fontana for the same price) for the average 6 night stay of a tour you are saving $300 on hotel.  Which means the latinintro.net price of $375 plus the $300 to stay at Charlie's place is $675, the same as the tour price.  Now the tour normally only includes a one month membership, and I don't know what the latinintro.net price includes.  Perhaps it is a deal and perhaps it isn't.  But LAI is aware of these other sites like latinintro.net and works in conjunction with them.  Frankly, as you spend time at in Colombia, you see many Colombians have their hands in as many pots as they can trying to make ends meet.

The $975 at LAI is a Senior Membership and doesn't include tour or hotel.  I don't see much difference.  They are both life memberships.  If somebody can get the lower price in Bogota and Cali to boot, they should go for it.

The $975 senior membership to LAI DOES include 5 nights at Charlie's Place... That's a $250 value... The senior membership also allows you UNLIMITED visits to the agency to attend socials/parties/citas...

If you want access to Cali agencies via this membership, you still pay the day rate at Latin Best...

I clarified this with Nelson just last week...

Better yet, call Nelson and find out from the horse's mouth...

I clicked on the  MEMBERSHIP of the LAI web page and saw a description of 16 benefits you get for a $975 Senior membership which LAI says is regularly $1,275.  No where does it mention getting a hotel for 5 days.  Why isn't it on the web page?  Surely, such a significant benefit would be advertised.  That means you would have to ask for it.  Better yet, why doesn't LAI just explain this too us all.

Is still seems to be that men are better off paying $375 than $975.

This reselling is confusing to me, but apparently you can get huge savings by doing an extensive search on the Internet and buying the same product from the cheapest vender.

I hope newbies out there are taking notes.

I think we all realize that the difference of a few hundred bucks, although not trivial, is also not something to get really bent out of shape about.  Based on what I've gathered from this forum, a guy will spend a lot more than that if/when he finds a wife, goes through all the visa paperwork, airfares, etc.  For me, the more important issue here isn't the actual dollar amounts - it's getting consistent information and straight deal.

I would be interested in getting some clarification on this.  I'm hoping to go to Bogota in January or February of the new year.

There seems to be some connection between LAI's site and latinintro because many of the women's photographs are the same, and because the font/graphics style is so similar.  The latinintro site is not quite as smooth and professional as LAI's.

The latinintro site does say $375 for a full membership, but looks like it does not include lodging.  Immediately below that announcement, it says $695 for a one-time bachelor tour membership that includes lodging (4 nights).  Maybe I'm not understanding the ad, but it's seems to me the full membership (on the latinintro site) would be a better deal unless you think you could find a wife in one week on the tour deal.

In fairness, the latinintro site does call their deal a holiday special, only good until Dec. 31.  Maybe business is slow with the holidays, and this is a way to keep things moving.  Plenty of other goods and services go on sale and have different prices at different times of year.

To some extent, higher prices at the good agencies might help insure only the more serious guys (with good intentions) go to those agencies.  I think that would be good thing.

lswote and wizard, let me say your posts have been really great.

talk to the Romans.  And when in Colombia, talk to the Colombians.  This reseller can tell you anything he wants but when you get to Colombia, you are going to have Colombians providing your service, not the American you bought the service from.  Maybe paying $375 will get you the same thing as you could get for $975 in Colombia, but I would make damn sure you know you are going to get what you pay for.  Agency memberships are expensive, but as wizard and I both attest, the are worth the money, even if you can't get a discount.  Please make sure you talk to both the reseller you are buying from as well as the agency you are going to.  I know if you call LAI they will give you the straight scoop and if they say they will honor the deal then they will honor it, but don't just take the reseller's word for it, because he won't be in Colombia when you try collecting on what you paid for.

PS I got 6 free nights on my first tour which cost $675.  Then on my second visit I paid an additional $300 to become a full member and also paid for my hotel room.  On all subsequent visits I just paid for the hotel room.

... in response to When in Rome ..., posted by lswote on Dec 11, 2002

Bruce,
I think you know from experience having been there several times. There is what it says on the internet and the deal you can make when you get there.Agencies don't want to openly undercut the reselers that send them business on their web site. Also there seems to be one price for the new guy who doesn't know much yet and a different one, more like the bottom line, for the experienced.I think its called charging what the buyer will pay.A couple of my friends were about to use a reseller before I convinced them to deal right with the agency,I knew they could get a better price, which they did,in person at the agency. You afraid they will be too busy? You think they are going to turn $$ away?
And why deal with a company that doesn't have an agency to go to an agency? This is really for guys who don't have access to internet imformation or haven't bothered to use it.
2 gringos wrote a whole book basically motivated by these fleece the buyer pricing stratagies.
Then there is the tour for dummies.A way for an agency to make an extra $1000 or so while throwing you together with the maximum amount of other gringos to lessen your odds.Yeah they can fill a big room with women who want free drinks and aggressive ones who will get in your way of meeting the girls who are the best bets.Even being there the week of a tour is a bad idea.
Buyer beware.I highly recommend the 2 gringos book for a newby if just for their imput on the pricing games. Its worth many times the $20 or so it costs.Even if they can't spell Colombia.

[This message has been edited by wizard]

that I was there over Thanksgiving, paid for the senior membership, $975, and got the first 5 nights included at Charlie's Place, no additional charge... I can't be much clearer than that... Like I said, if you don't believe me, call Nelson... Like all websites contain 100% complete and accurate information...

By the time you add up the costs, it's all the same... Do the math...

Say someone purchases the discounted $375 membership, then throw in hotel room for 5 nights your right at the same price as the tour membership @ $675... The $975 package gives you lifetime membership, not for just one tour...

You missed the fine print on the membership summary page...

"Senior Executive Membership ($975)
Skip all the preliminaries and get your lifetime membership now. Not only will you receive all the added benefits of the previous options, but also receive individual, personalized attention"

You get all the benefits of all the previous packages plus lifetime membership... Which include the 5 nights accomodations of the tour membership...

When I joined, I did ask what the accomodations were with the senior membership and that's when Nelson said 5 nights included...
