I think its a good time to reflect on how lucky we are to have been born in this counrty,a place most people in the world would give about anything to be able to come to.Particularly since we here are exposed to issues of immigration.We can bring in a wife or a step child,but other members of the family are left without much opportunity for anything like the good life we enjoy.Jobs are hard to come by,just making a very basic living is a challenge.
I know we can't just open up our borders to everyone and prefference should be given to those that play by the rules,but I have a great deal of respect for people who come here illegally,usually without speaking the language and without much education and are able to take care of themselves while also sending a good deal of money back to the people still at home.I think its a real act of love when hard earned dollars get sent basck to help the family.My wife works for a money wiring sevice.All day long there is a constant stream of people wiring money to their families,usually to Mexico.Mostly these people do jobs others are not willing to take at a salary that would not be acceptable.They provide us with a great service doing the work they do.Yes many pay no taxes,but people in their income bracket pay no taxes anyway,and sometimes get back "earned income tax credits:,or a gift of money from the govevernment.Yes thier children go to school here,which is good for any child.I expect except for that their use of other social sevices is minimal because they do not want to draw attention to their immigration status.
There are maybe 9,000,000 to 13,000,000 illegal aliens in this country,from all over the world but mostly Mexico.I think some sort of program needs to be undertaken to make them legal.Its hard I know to draw the line for who.And unfortunately 9/11 and terrorism has complicated things.Athough immigration issues are involved in both,terrorism is really a completly different issue.These hard working people should not suffer because of what terrorists have done.
So be glad you are a citizen of this country.And if you are sitting on your disenfranchised butt complaining you might want to rethink that in light of what these people are able top do at such great personal hardship.
I also want to give thanks for the inspiration and support I recieved from others to go and find the wife of my dreams.Yes there are risks,which we here alot about.But the reward is well worth it to this guy.I am very happy with my choices right now.
