Good day everyone,

I received a letter from a friend that has relocated from Barranquilla to Bucaramanga. Unfortunately, the envelope looks as if it has been given the once over by the Colombian postal/customs folks...so the address is only partially legible.

Has anyone heard of a Barrio called either "El Reposo", or "El Repaso"?

All help is appreciated.

Thanks

Tai

I wrote to a lady several months ago who wrote that her family was from this area.  If I remember correctly she said it was south of the city about a half hour and in the low mountains.  Much happiness to you and your friend.

Thanks Michael,

Just my luck, I didn't see a name listed bearing any real resemblance to what is written on this envelope. Nevertheless, I definitely appreciate the help.

Take care.

Tai

ps - I've always written barrio names on the envelope, but this does raise the question: Is the barrio name a "must have" on a letter to Colombia?

Try sending it without the barrio, what have you got to loose but the price of a stamp? Unless you have her email or phone number, then of course use one of them.

I think in a city like Cali the barrio helps a lot. There's a lot of confusion about addresses. Just give a taxi driver a perfectly good address and watch him drive all over trying to find it (and I'm not refering to the "run the  meter up game either). The most reliable is an apartado aereo which is a P.O. box.
