Author Topic: Does the INS actually find people to deport?  (Read 7303 times)

I think its the rare case, maybe with other overtones, where the INS detains people to deport.
There might  be some new test cases.Social security is finding and cracking down on people using fake social security cards.A woman who works with my wife just got caught and fired. My wife feels real bad. "poor lady, she needs the job." Worse than that they know where she is and she is not only illegal but faked the SS card.It seems it would be easy to deport her,if they are at all inclined to do that.
I guess I sympathise with her  also. These people just want what we are so lucky to have, the right to live and work here.
My wife just started her first job 3 weeks ago.She works for Dolex,a company that wires money to latin countries. She likes it,comes home in a good mood.I think she feels better about herself working.I need to research a little more about the company. Its only a dollar to wire money and they were paying 2680 Colombian pesos/dollar 2 weeks ago.Sounds too good to be true.

According to the INS website: "June 2002, INS removed 10,983 aliens from the United States, 4,978 of these aliens were criminals."

In the last few years the INS has shifted focus to removing convicted criminals. This makes sense, why go after some maid who's just trying to make a living when you can deport a violent criminal who's likely to continue a career of crime.

Thats about .1% or one in every 1000 if you presume 10,000,000 illegal aliens. One in 2000 if you eliminate the criminals.Seems like the chances of getting deported have been pretty low, seems there has to be some other factor like crime to actually get deported. This could be changing if the INS ever gets its act together.

The day my wife and I had our conditional permanent resident interview, the officer that talked to us said their "holding cells" in that same building stayed full. I'm guessing that the detainees were people who went to the INS office with a fake situation and were caught and detained on the spot. Here in TN. the only stories I hear are occasionally the INS will raid a factory or construction site for illegals. I haven't heard of any individuals being hunted. I've also heard there are only 10 INS field agents to cover the entire state, not sure if that is true.

My wife's best friend from Lima came here on a tourist visa and overstayed. She recently lost her job at a major hotel chain when the company decided to check/verify all the work credentials. Then she was hired somewhere else but was caught again by HR dept. before she even started her first day.Supposedly the HR lady took one look at her card and said, "sorry, not real". Must have been a lousy fake. [She is living in Miami] Those aren't "round-ups", but they do indicate more checking going on.

I believe they have benefits if you are full time.My wife started part time but has worked about 5 days out of the last 6,5-8 hrs/day.I think most employees are part time, they call you when they need you. They started her in a larger office with 2 people, she would handle the spanish transactions. Now she is in a smaller office by herself where she handles all transactions, but most are in spanish. Her english is good enough now.It doesn't pay good but it is good for her.She comes home happy.
Its probably just a stepping stone for her. They offered her a full time job in the main office but 1 + hours commute, she said no thanks.

Arlington is a Dallas suburb, in fact it's where Six Flags is and where the Texas Rangers play (not that I give a &^%$* about either of them, been here 19 years never went to either one, ha ha)....that may explain why they have so many of them in the Dallas area. I've got one of their fliers at the office..I think (but not sure) that it mentions a web site.
