That's the average number of posts that have any value on this board. Let's see more trip reports to Colombia (Cali, Bogota et.) Stop all this political comment, and intellectual garbage that serves no use, except to the person who posts it.

It’s at times like these I wonder whether the name of this board should be changed from “Planet Love” to “Planet of the Apes”.  There are subjects that I feel should be discussed on this board that don’t get enough attention.  For example, in the past I have tried to bring up the subject of “Phone Cards” and have been largely ignored.  An ongoing discussion of phone cards would be more worthwhile then 99% of the opinions on this board even though it is not exciting because it doesn’t create drama, pit liberals against conservatives, and so forth.  And other useful subjects would be airfares, hotels, interpreters, visa problems, etc.  There is a lot of information we could trade to save money.  I think that some men have good information but don’t think it’s important enough to publish when actually it would be the most useful of all.  Also, there was a recent thread where someone was dissatisfied with an agency and the agency owner responded.  This could have been a valuable dialog between a dissatisfied customer and an agency owner which would have given men valuable insight into how to conduct themselves at an agency and establish realistic expectations and strategies.  But, the whole thing quickly died out.  There are missed opportunities like this.

Hey valued,

I think it's a bit presumptious to suggest what is more wothwhile to discuss, while calling cards may be of interest to you, it may not be for others.  As Jim C suggested, the ARCHIVES would be a great place to look for this type of information.

As to the subjects that are discussed here, I'm glad that Patrick gives us a lot of lattitude regarding what is discussed and what is not.  I think this keeps the board fresh, interesting and keeps people coming back.  I start to cringe when people other than Patrick start suggesting what should be discussed and what shouldn't.  When a subject bores me, I just don't read it.

Dear Value

Many of us have posted exactly what you suggest. According to your profile you have been here since 2001, have you read the archives. Often we react to the present posts and wait for new information. There are seasonal changes to airfare. The reputation of an agency fluctuates but the complaints remain the same. Individual personalities come and go. I believe that the archives often are an underused goldmine of information. They contain info on divorce, marriage, Ins regulations and general opinions on agencies and costs in Colombia. A while back I even did a restaurant review. All new members should start with this site. That is the reason it is there. JIM C

I agree Craig. I believe in the 10% theory that i learned from the business i am in (futures trading). Only 10% ever succeed and 90% fail and i see this theory in life in general.10% are going out and getting what they want by having a positive attitude. 90% here seem content to be miserable and have no hesitation to reveal their negative/arrogant attitude.

Blew a gasket?  Is that a good thing or bad thing?

Blowing a gasket is a very good thing...  Just not sure if I want to go through it again.

We're just going to put more off-topic messages into the archive disk space that could otherwise be used for something more relevant.
