On the second day we decided to go to the Zoo, it was a nice place, but nothing compared to say the San Diego Zoo.  It was an opportunity to get to know each other and get a feel for each others personality.  And since I had been studying Spanish for about 5 months we understood each other for the most part and on occasion used the translator.  After the Zoo we headed back to her place for Lunch.  It seems that everyday they have a light breakfast, a big lunch and a light dinner.  Every lunch was started with a delicious soup & salad and then rice with either chicken or beef of some kind.

As far as food goes I enjoyed all of it except the "Shampoo" (spelled differently Im sure). Empanadas and other foods were great.  Also,  when the mother went shopping she only went to the corner market (half block form the house) to get all the fresh fruit vegatables and meat necessary for a day or two. No preservatives, etc, etc. I think I lost weight over there!

After this we did a little shopping at La 14.  Relaxed and spent a lot of time chatting with Claudia and her Niece who knows some english.  It was fun just gettting to know them and their culture.  After this I turned in and was told to be prepared for tomorrow as we were to go to Tres Cruces...

I can relate to the drink "Shampoo". When I was staying in the South part of Cali the street vendors yell "shampoo, shampoo" all day. I inquired about trying some and was warned by my gringo Cali resident friend that this stuff "was the worst tasting drink he ever tasted....that's being kind.....he said it was like drinking cold vegetable soup with corn in it. That was enough for me....
