Not to eventful day, did some shopping et.

On Saturday my girl's good friend loaned me his car.  We did some driving around and went to Unicentro again.  We had a really good steak at a place Lenos & Cabbones
...?  Cant remember the other word, it was outstanding, only 11,000. ($6?). I als gave those cab drivers a run for their money in regards to driving at 60 mph in a 30 and not obeying the lights when they turn red.  (I also avoided riding in really old taxis~we would only flag down the newer ones when traveling).

I forget to mention the night before Claudia and I meet with her pastor at the church for a counseling session.  After a discussion he approved of the union and prayed with us.  He said he has lost several ladies in his flock to Amercian men (hmm). At any rate he approved which was important for the family. * Also the night before, Leonardo the owner of MissLatinas phoned and wanted to drop in and meet me.  It was the least I could do since I used his sight wthout paying ony fees or dues.  Nice guy..a colombian reared in London who returned to his homeland.  He even gave me a Chiva (bus) as  a gift.  I denclied on him taking our picture for his website "sucess stories" I told him maybe later if we agree.  Nice guy, but I did tell him his web site was below average and if he wanted more business he had bettter upgrade it.  He says he has quality ladies and screens them really well.  I guess they are good about meeting their appointments as well.

On Sat. night we did attend church, which is the day of worship there.  I enjoyed it, I had to have a translator to help, but nonetheless, it was good.  The assistant pastor spoke english and we chatted for a while.  During the announcments the pastor had me stand and greet the congregation and announcend to them that I was the fiance of Claudia.  After church we headed home and hung out for a while since it was our last night together.

Sunday morning we were up at 4;30  and at the airport by 5:15.  We were both sad but knew we were going to see each other soon, so after a few embrazos and besos we said good bye and I went thru immagration and security.

I rented a car my first trip to Cali but let my Colombian friend drive.I wouldn't even think of driving there.Even though I think I am an excellent driver they have their own set of unofficial rules. Its very agressive. You could get in trouble driving conservatively. The only place I drove in Colombia was when I rented a dune buggy on Providencia. There is almost no traffic there.
The rental car wound up costing about $70 a day.Alot of money when cabs are so cheap. We wanted to do some sight seeing and my friend drove us around for 2 days.I think you can get a driver with a car for about $40 a day, cheaper than renting the car,but we wanted to do it with my friend, not a stranger.Plus he was my interpreter and it was the weekend I met my wifes family and asked permission to marry her.Much more comfortable with an interpreter you I knew.

I beleive you need an international license in order to drive in Colombia. So it is my guess you would have been fined if you were caught driving.

Unless your the Mario Andretti type I wouldn't even try it. Just let one those taxi drivers from Cali hit your rented car.Ummm...Hmmmm. Who would be brave enough to even operate a rental agency?

I would not get a rental car anywhere in Latin America. They all drive crazy and also alot of the rental agencies  anywhere in Latin America have a common scam. When you return a rental car, and it has a single little dent or scratch on it they will bill your credit card for $2000-$3000. This has never happend to me , but I have heard it happening to other tourists. The car could have a scratch on it before you rent it and the guy inspecting it could miss the scatch and then find it when you return the rental car. I rented a jeep in Costa Rica when I went, and was so scarred to drive in San Jose, the majority of the time I had it parked in the parking garage of my hotel. The few times I did drive it, it was crazy. I had one of those cheap dyhatsu imports and burned out the clutch on it. Luckily they did not bill my credit card, but man it was a real pain in the ass calling the rental car agency in , calling the tow truck company and also explaining to the auto mechanic that the clutch burned out all in Spanish LOL. Rental cars are more of a pain then it is worth. You are much better off taking a cab.

I never really considered it.  I just took the keys!!! My lady had his registration, ID, and some other papers to prove it was his car we were using in case we were stopped.  Im sure you can rent a car. But,  there is no parking on the street in her nieghborhood.  Most pull them into the garage under their house.  Maybe an agency can assist you if you plan  on renting a car.

IM not absolutely sure.  There are some out there.  I had one write me from Bogota.  When I emailed Latin Best, before I decided to just focus on one girl, they were going to assist me in dating only Christian ladies.  You may try something similiar by asking an agency you plan on staying at.

I wish you sucess in your search!!
