happy with apprehension

The State Department has issued a new travelers warning about visiting Colombia. Although I am happy about Pastranas growing a pair, I cannot help but worry if the Colombian army and police are prepared for a real urban war. I am sure that the Farc is aware of the methods used by the IRA and the Palistinians, but is the goverment intelligence up to combating that kind of conflict. I really believe that the Colombians need to institute the death penalty for terrorism and maybe being a guerilla would not be such a popular job. At a minimum, the leaders and commanders should be shot for treason. The lowly conscript really is not responsible.
How ever you look at it blowing up children and innocents is not war. It is murder of the worst kind, perpitrators of these practices need to be removed from the planet and others placed on notice that the world will not accept this kind of warfare .
The news has been sketchy. The people I have talked to in Cali are apprehensive about bombing of schools and malls. They have no better information than we do. There was noise about the invasion and then nothing. No one knows what the army commanders will do next. I don't think they understand that holding a piece of property is not victory in this kind of war. As Patton said : your job is to make the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
Well I was going south on the first and now I think I will wait and see what happens. Maybe the government will go after them instead of sitting on its a-s and crowing how they drove them out of the zone. It is time for some of the FARC to experience what an old woman feels just before she is shot in the back. JIM C
