I just returned from my 2nd trip to Colombia a couple of days ago. My 1st trip, I stayed close to a month, met the girl of my dreams and then came back to the US for a couple of weeks for documents, then returned to Cali to marry my wife. I flew into Cali on a Fri, met the notario, and took care of paperwork on Sat, and Married my wife on Sunday at a beautiful, small wedding that her and her friend planned. Mon. we went to Bogota, Tues, we went to the Embassy, Wed, we went for vaccinations, Thurs we took off to San Andres Island for a 2 week honeymoon. Then we returned to Bogota for the physical exam, 2nd appointment at the Embassy, and then we flew out the next day.
Alot in a paragraph that was a huge adventure.
My wife and I fit perfectly together, after about 8 weeks of non-stop time together. I spoke no Spanish when I arrived in Cali, but I took it seriously and have studied hard, and spoke spanish all the time in Colombia. I really never spoke any English at all during my time there. Just a little hanging out with other Gringos at the Embassy. It really is amazing how much Spanish you can learn in 2 mos. if you completely give up English. I did not pressure my wife to study and speak English while we were in Colombia. Marriage and life lasts a long time and I figured that is time for her English in the US.
I do have some input and opinions that I would like to share about my Immigration Lawyer in Cali, place to stay in Bogota near the Embassy, and the agency I used.
As for the ladies, I'll keep it short because it's all pretty simple and obvious. Try to look deeper then the pretty face, and understand that you really can't generalise about anything with these girls. They are all different, and individuals.
I'll post the info about my contacts later.
Take care,
Wayne
