Do the Cali girls go in for tatoos and piercings?  Are they more or less popular there than in the states?

Yes it is very common for the ladies to have tatoo's and piercings, especially among the younger ladies.

I don't know about Cali but the two ladies in Colombia that I got to know (one in Medellin and the other in Bogota) both had tatoos. Both seemed a little embarassed to tell me about them. My fiance, who is very traditional, has a tatoo. From the conversations I've had with women about tatoos they're incredibly popular in Colombia.
