Guys,

I just came back from doing a detailed analysis on the latin-internet.com website.  It looks really nice and orderly; and the women are outstandingly beautiful.

Being that I have no experience, yet, I have a few questions:

1) I noticed that Latin Internet(latin-internet.com) is located in Ciudad Jardin, Cali, Colombia.  How safe is Ciudad Jardin in relation to those other towns where allcolombiangirls, latinlove.net, and latinencounters.com is located?

2) I was reading that Ciudad is one of the richest districts in Colombia.  Is this true?

3) Has anyone had any experience(I've talked to one guy already) about joining latin-internet.com?  Was your experiences good, bad, or what?

4)Is there an airport located close to Ciudad Jardin?

5) Lastly, is it possible to skip the middle man, Harry Baum, and just talk to the ladies at the agency, book a room, without having to have to pay the $375 for membership fee?  I would be more than happy to pay the membership if I have to.  But, if I don't have to, I won't!

Thanks,

Hilton

Hi Hilton,
I have been to Cali twice this year. My decision to go to Colombia was an impulse. I first found out about the MOB scene in Colombia at the end of May 2001. By the end of June I was in country. I did a lot of research before going and asked a lot of questions in that one month. Generally speaking it simply does not make sense to pay a membership fee to any agency. LB, LWC, ACG, MisG and maybe few of the others offer free access to thier books if you stay at thier B&B. Some of the agencies, most notably LB, allow you to pay a weekly fee for access to thier books. Staying in the north offers some advantages. Staying at the LWC condo gives you access to thier books and at least semi-privacy. Couple this with the very reasonable weekly fee at LB and you get access to two agencies for a very reasonable sum. LWC and LB are within easy walking distance of Exito, a large department store, and only about 3000 pesos from ChipiChapi Mall and Avienda Sixta. The north is where most of the women live and work, this makes it's easier for them to get to see you. If your time is limited and you haven't been to Colombia or Cali before a lot of your time will be spent in learning, which is OK, because if you like it you'll be back. As for agencies and thier websites there is only one that I know that is kept very updated, that's LWC. IMO do not worry about the websites or thier hype. If you do not know exactly what to expect that's OK, because I will tell you exactly what to expect. On a first trip, expect to be overwhelmed! My experiences in Cali were teriffic. I met a great women on my first trip. We spent 10 days together on my second trip. I was on schedule to return in November. Right now I would be married except for a misfortune on my part. However that event only delayed my wedding which will now be in January.
My number one tip: Learn as much Spanish as you can as soon as you can.
My best advice: Do not think that the long distance of this trip means that your (personal)baggage will miraculously be left behind.
Fred
PS Here are a few pictures from my first trip.

Yo Hilton...

Cuidad Jardin, is probaly the richest & safest area's in Cali. Not quite sure, where latinlove is located since they're left the palace in C.J. Don't sleep (in regards to safety) on any barrio in Cali. When using an ATM, use one at the Malls, more machines & more importantly, MORE SECURIY!!! Only one public airport in Cali. If you stay in North Cali, the taxi should run anywhere between 25k to 35k pesos ($12 to $17). South Cali, approximately 45k to 55k ($22 to $27). Make sure the driver uses the yellow & white pay rate table.

I can only give you Stivalis's opinion of LI, as a member. She was never pressured to make intro's. Many times, the lady setting up the intro, will describe you & the vibe she gets, to the lady you've requested. This gives the lady the option to accept or decline. Remember, this is a two way street. Don't believe ANY HYPE, that all of these ladies are begging to get married and/or out of Colombia...

Peace...Hoda

p.s. That departure time you gave for your trip, will disappear rapidly. Start your prep, not now, but RIGHT NOW!!!

Good advise on using the ATMs at a mall. Look at todays report of the Afgani being shot in his home (in Cali) after earlier visiting a casa de cambio. Another option with airport transport is taking the minbuses that leave the airport for the terminal in Cali every about 15 minutes. That trip costs $.85 then you can take a cab from the terminal to the north end for another $.85 or the south $3. This tactic is best combined with staying at the airport hotel $26 the night of your arrival and busing in to Cali first thing in the morning or the night before your crack of dawn departure for the states.

Hilton
I live in Cuidad Jardin. It is just another Barrio of Cali. It costs $3.50 to take a cab from the north. Don't pay the money to LI for the membership. Stay at an agency in the north, most of the girls live there. If you want to check out another agency try Latin Best. I like the owner she has been in business ten years and I have never heard a complaint about her from anyone on any list, in fact her living room is filled with guys staying at other agencies. She will give you a weekly rate just for service and is not greedy. LI wants a memebrship fee and as far as I'm concerned their books are not current or valid. So stay at one of the places near Avenida Sexta -Margareths or Robertos and check out LB also every one will tell you Luz Amparo is the most honest in Cali JIM C

PS you will find the same girls in the other agencies that are on the books at LI.

Jim,

I noticed, on latinbest.com website that they charge $500 for a membership fee.  Do you think Luz will charge me this fee and still charge me the $45 daily room fee?  Or, do you think that, due to the fact that I may only want to stay a certain amount of time, she will only charge me the $45 daily fee?

Thanks,

hilton

I dont know what Luz will charge you for full service. I have my own place, but she will negotiate a weekly rate for her services. Jim C

1) & 2) Ciudad Jardin is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Cali, and probably in Colombia for that matter.

4) Cali only has one commercial airport. Ciudad Jardin is a 45 min ~ 1hr taxi ride from the airport.

Hilton,

Several of the ladies that Latin Internet has displayed on their website are from Bogota, and do not belong to their agency. For example the girl on the upper left hand corner, her name is Sandra and she has never been to Cali.

I don't understand why would Harry use pictures from ladies that are not in his agency, I would guess they have enough ladies.

I have already emailed Harry and requested him to move the pictures over a week ago. I have received no answer as of yet.

Nelson.

I guess I haven't paid attention the Latin-Internet page in quite a while but I was suprised to see that the entire operation seems to be managed now by Harry Baum. No longer any mention of J.R. or his Chicago office and phone number. The times they are a changin'. As to girls pictures showing up on websites of agecies they've never belonged to what's new about that?! It's a cut throat business.

My advise to anyone who hasn't been to Colombia yet: don't pin your hopes on meeting any girls you find on ageny websites. There's a darned good chance they "can't be reached" when you get there. You can skip the rest of the hype on those sites too. If there's a site you're interested in get the agency phone number and address IN Cali (or wherever the agency is) and work out your arrangement either by phone or on site. You're bound to find someone on this board who has the information. The only reality in any of this is what you find in the books when you get there.
