After a year and a half in Spain, I'm kicking around the idea of moving to Latin America for a while. Spanish women don't interest me because of their personalities and values, and I'm really impressed with the latinoamericanas I've met here. Even the plain looking ones are much more desirable than espaņolas.

I'd like to come back to Europe some day, though, and see some more of the place. Portugal is really nice and cheap (the people are quite nice but the women are _really_ plain looking), and I'd also love to spend some time living in southern France and Italy. I'd rather do it with mi alma gemela, though, so it makes sense to live in LA for a while, get married, then move to Europe together for a few years.

What are the visa complications involved for a latinoamericana from Brazil or Colombia in going to Europe? As a US citizen, would being married to me help her or hurt her in this regard? Would it be a better idea to live in the US first? Or should I get the wandering out of my blood first and then go to LA?

... in response to Different kind of visa question, posted by Bueller on Nov 21, 2001

Hello Bueller - My girlfriend has a cousin who has been over in Spain for around 9 months or so.  She is Colombian and about 40 years old.  She got hooked up with an older sugar daddy over there and I believe she is going to marry him.  She has been sending home a good sum of money every month to her mother.  Turns out the mother is flying out today to visit them in Spain.

I asked my girlfriend about the visa issue.  She said right now, all a person from Colombia needs to visit Spain is a "letter of invitation" from a Spanish resident to show when they arrive.  She said there has apparently been talk about Spain requiring visas from Colombianos but it has not translated into any official action yet.  She is not sure of the other countries in Europe.

If I were you, I would go to South America and find your alma gemala and then go with her to visit the places you want to go in Europe.

Good luck and good hearing from you...
