OK I am not going to knock Colombia anymore. I am sorry to all the people I insulted. The only reasons I really picked Mexico was because there is no passport required there, 40% of the girls speak good to fluent english in most of the agencies, and 60% of the girls in the majority of the agencies have at least a tourist visa or work visa to the U.S. This is because of lighter immigration policies as a result of NAFTA. By me picking a girl in Mexico, I can bring them back for a 90 day stay on a tourist visa without having to get married and a 6 month or 12 month stay if they have a work visa. This way there isn't a rush to get married. You can take your time a little more and decide if the person is really what your looking for. For Canadians, it is even better they can bring in a Mexican for 60 days with no paperwork or visa required. It is the ease of this country that makes it attractive to me. I know other people have other priorities though.

Mike,

I'm glad you finally registered. The others and I, especially Hoda, have mentioned many good points to you.

No matter which types of women you are into, it doesn't matter.

The only additional suggestion that I will make is that you should take your time. Take the opportunity to GROW with this pursuit, just as other reasonable people on this board have done. You're very young, and frankly some of the things you said before were way off-base.

That's alright because no one is an expert here, just some people have more experience than others. It's all apart of learning.

So, just go to Mexico, and see how you like it.

I am not sure what you meant by "no passport required" in Mexico.  But, if you go into the interior of Mexico you need your passport and visa.  You can buy the visa at the airport for about $20 and it is good for six months.

Also, if you are really interested in Mexico, you should know that you are wasting your time on this board.  Although this is called the "Latin Board", if you read it for a while, you will discover that it actually should be more appropriately named the "Cali" Board.  If you mention any location outside of Cali you will be automatically attacked by the fundamentalist extremists of the "El Quiero" network.  Some of these guys attacking have been on this board for ages.  If Cali is so great why aren't they married yet?  They should get out of their caves and get a life.

I disagree with your premise.  I think most of us who are regulars on the board are interested in hearing peoples adventures wherever they originate from in Latin America.  Most people recognize that there is not one way (or location) to go about this and success is much more dependent upon what you bring to the table than about what city or agency you visit.

On the other hand, the MOB industry (for lack of a better word) is predominately concentrated in Colombia and disproportianately more in Cali than in other Colombian cities.  As a result of this, you will find MANY guys here and on other boards with wives, novias, and ex-novias (-: from there.  Guys write about the places they have traveled to and experienced.  So is it really a surprise that a lot of the talk here on the board is Cali related?  It seems more natural than sinister to me...

With regard to Mike, my problem with his posts is not related to Mexico but rather insincerety.  I believe he may have been posting under two names, Mike and James.  (Both these handles were posting from the same IP address.) Remember that while Mike was lamenting the money earning potential of his Mexican beauty and comparing her much more favorably to the downtrodden Calenas, James was actually quite interested in these Calenas and asking where best to go to meet one. Both of your facts are wrong.  First an American citizen is not required to have a passport for any city in Mexico.  A drivers license and birth certificate will provide you entry regardless of the cities location.

I read this board daily but I do not post often.  I have read many posts here regarding interest in various countries.  I have read peoples opinions of why they choose one place over another, but the "attacks" were always by one or two individuals who are no longer here anyway.

There is no passport required just a birth certificate and drivers license. I said I was sorry to all these guys and there still all getting huffy at me, maybe your right its all pro-colombia. I just wonder how some of these guys can recognize a womens personality, if many colombian women cannot even speak the same language as them, and about saying I am looking for love yes I am, and I have found the love of my life and have given up my search. I have found what I am looking for and need no other.

I don't really think there's any pro-Colombian group here that trounces anyone expressing interest in any other country.  I think it's just that Colombia is where the greatest concentration of interested women and agencies is.  Just like the Philippines is where almost all men who look for Asian wives go.  Of course you're going to hear more "horror stories" from guys marrying Colombians than any other Latin women.  Same for the Philippines and Asian women.  It's simply due to the fact that there's far more marriages between gringos and Colombians and every gringo/Colombiana marriage, whether good or bad, is more likely to be to a Colombian woman based on the numbers.

Of course guys are going to be upset when you make sweeping claims about the country where their wife/girlfriend is from.  I thought your story about the women asking about your "friend's money, credit cards, etc." and a plan to leave him after a year and cut you in on a piece of the divorce settlement was pure fabrication.  That's when I started to suspect that maybe you have some kind of incentive to pump another country as being better.

I notice you're still very sparse on details.  We heard just a couple of weeks ago that you had one interesting prospect in Mexico but that you were still looking, and now that your search is over and you've found "the one".  All that in two weeks, and without details.  You gotta admit, it does sound strange, and the lack of any details on what happened does seem to support the theory that you have some kind of agenda here.

I think Mexico is a great place myself and if I were just starting my own search, I'd probably concentrate on that country.  But I wouldn't knock Colombia either.  It's all just a matter of personal preference.  I don't like using agencies myself and if I used any service at all, it would be minimal.  If you can operate independantly than it opens up all kinds of possibilities.  If that's the case, then it would seem preferable to go to a country without many other gringos to compete with.

The bottom line is that anyone contemplating marrying should have some good people skills and judgement whether they're searching in Mexico, Colombia, or even the US.

Speaking Spanish is definitely an asset for those searching for a Latin wife and everyone on this message board should be studying it if they're serious about finding a good Latin woman and having a good marriage.

Mike,

Have you met this girl yet? Did you go to meet her? How did it go?

Don't assume that other guys don't speak spanish. You'll be surprised. Most of the regular posters here speak Spanish well enough to meet many people in Latin America.

Mike, why don't you take a minute and explain the James post.  Unless I've missed it, you provided no explanation up until now.

Mike,

You still haven't mentioned a word about finding or being found by LOVE!!!!! This "ease" thing, still falls under the column of "Earning potential". Ain't no "EASE" to finding, or be found by love. You still gotta review your personal (looking in the mirror) checklist before you go anywhere!!!! You're not looking for love, you're looking for convience!

Later...

Mike,

Now that you're registered, please take a moment and explain the James post(s) coming from the same IP address as yours.
