Cartagena in November

I am going to Cartagena the week of the miss colombia contest and would love to meet some nice colombian women.  I'd appreciate any advise or information. I'll be sure to post a trip report afterward.  Thanks.

I've been to Cartagena four times.  I plan to return either in November or December, but it's doubtful I will be there the weekend of November 10-11, 2001.

My advice is to sign up with an agency there - either AFA or Latin Destination, or any other agency that does business there.  I think CCL may have some connections in Cartagena.

Be careful with ladies you may meet on your own there.  There are unscrupulous ladies in Cartagena deliberately on the lookout for tourists.  They know the tourists have a short time in Cartagena - just a few days, or a week or two.  After you leave town, they're on the lookout for the next tourist.

What is the cost to sign up for AFA in Cartagena? Does anyone have the address for latin destinations in Cartagena? Costs?  As far as meeting ladies outside the agencies I would think it would be fine, just take your time and use caution and common sense. I mean if a "player" wanted to meet foreigners an agency is a great place. She yours for your visit then the next week the next mark rolls into town. I saw it often and was told by friends in Cali that it does happen often. I will be in Cartagena in January if anyone wants to meet up.

I paid $25 an intro to AFA when I visited Cartagena the first time (August 2000).  I walked in to their Bocagrande office; I did not go through the U.S office.

You cannot do the same thing with Latin Destination.  You must go through the U.S. office in order to hook up with LD in Cartagena.

As far as meeting women on your own in Cartagena:  I based my opinion on what I learned from a gringo who lives in Cartagena.  He has been there for almost a year.  He has told me a lot about how things are in Cartagena.  He urges caution in meeting the ladies on your own there.

As far as players in agencies go:  There are players in the agencies, and there are players outside the agencies.  There are nice ladies in the agencies, and there are nice ladies outside the agencies.
