has anyone noticed...are the colombia agencies lowering their prices? it seems since we are at war and we are in a recession most businesses/industries are lowering prices. im just wondering if the agencies are planning to offer incentives for the traveling gringos. i was surfing the agency web sites last night and i did notice that Aspiring Latin Models agency in cali have dropped their prices to $1000. it used to be $2500. .

I expect you're going to see more and more competition for the dwindling number of men searching abroad and many agencies going belly up over the next year or so.  With tough economic times, I think men are concentrating more on finances than romance.

i think it relates more to irrational fear of flying than to the economy.
i personally dont understand the  fear

I think both are contributing factors, but the down turn in agency business started before the attack, so at least part of it is indeed the economy.

its probably a combination of fear and economy. i can understand the fear 4 planes hijacked, thousands dead, and the airports and planes still arent safe. they (FAA) is a joke a terrible thing happens under their watch and how do they react, they immediately stop curbside baggage checkin....wow! when they finally do all the things they say they"re gonna do...thats when i'll start flying again....that is if the economy is back on track and my business starts producing a imcome again.

Your right, its probably safer than it was before.I wouldn't hesitate to fly at all if there was somewhere I wanted to go right now.Alot of it may be less business travelers because as things get bad companies want to improve their bottom line and cut out expenses for all but the most basic things.

unfortunetly i think you are right Patrick. even cali-vet said that he noticed less gringos in cali his last trip to cali about two weeks ago. this attack on america is gonna cause alot of changes and im sure the mob industry will feel it.

Yeah, but you are not flying now. You are flying during the holidays. Prices are always higher then.

Have you considered splitting the trip into two tickets: say LA to Miami and Miami to Cali?  Over on the Russian board, where I usually hang out, people sometimes post about the deals that they get by doing this.

Also, Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood Airport  (code: FLL) is 20 miles or so to the North of Miami.  You might be able to get a good fare on a discount airline into Fort Lauderdale and transfer to Miami.  (There is even public transit (www.tr-irail.com) to do this, but you *must* have plenty of time to do the transfer this way.)

I just got a price for Oct. of 440.00 for RT LAX.

I've used them for Costa Rica and they are good.

Happy trails,

Chris,

Christmas is by far and away the high season when traveling to Latin America.  I always pay a thousand or so when traveling from San Fran to Cali at this time.  It's just a good case of supply and demand.

Ninety five percent of the people on the December flights are Colombians heading home for Christmas.  I hate to say it but they're used to terrorist acts on a daily basis.  I don't believe recent events will modify their flying behavior and so I wouldn't expect the supply/demand curve to change much if any.  I'd book my Christmas flight soon as these flights fill up quickly.

well i dont know about that....but my point is this....you have to admit beckwith has some beautiful girls and the price of $1000. is certainly better than $2500. . personally i think its a good deal, unfortunetly i cant take advantage of it cause i have to stay here in the USA and struggle to keep my business afloat in these recession times...otherwise i'd be down there taking advantage of beckwiths deal. oh well at least i have satalite t v.
