... in response to what about brazil?, posted by pack on Aug 23, 2001

I recently returned from Brazil (mid July to August), to visit a woman that I corresponded with.  I got her address through LatinEuro.

I feel that my trip was a great success, and if everything continues to go well, after another visit (she may come here) we will probably get engaged.  Some of the things that I think helped considerably were that I tried to find someone within my range (age, education level, etc), also I went into correspondence with the idea that if I was not convinced that someone was my friend I wouldn't make any plans for a trip.  This really payed off because the person I had become friends with was exactly the same person that I met and grew closer to.

I think J, my friend, said it best, when I asked her if she would recommend this to a friend, she said, "I think we were lucky, but not everyone will be."

Still, it's a beautiful country and I could seriously see moving there if there are too many INS problems.  Maybe the new K3 (the one where your spouse can wait with you while the INS does their processing) will make it not so bad.

I'm not sure when my next visit to Brazil will be.  Maybe Christmas vacation, or maybe a long trip next summer.  Depends on if J can get a visa and come here or not.

J speaks English pretty fluently, so it was much easier for me.  My impression is that most people know some words of English but you would not be able to communicate with them.  Unless you know Portuguese, I'd really recommend you concentrate your efforts on someone that speaks English.

It's hard to accurately generalize about the women in Brazil.  My impression from my limited experience was that the women compared to the women in the US, in general, look more natural (fewer tatoos, piercings, long clawlike artificial nails, over processed hair). I would guess there are far fewer "high maintenance" types compared to the US.  Also, there seemed to be more of a cooperative attitude between couples.  I didn't run into any ugly incidents as an American (someone yelling at me or getting refused service).  Also, since I only know a handful of Portuguese, when I tried to do something but could not articulate well, people were generally understanding.  Not like what I've observed in the US, where people that struggle with English are treated very rudely.

I think the most likely route will be corresponding, if you decide to investigate Brazil, so this will be a different approach than the agency method.  I think it (corresponding) takes more time(weeks, months), but is more efficient in the actual hours (and money) spent.

... in response to what about brazil?, posted by pack on Aug 23, 2001

hey pack - send me an email

i was in brazil for 2 weeks
end of june to mid july

visited 4 cities
rio, aracaju, forteleza, and sao paulo

i went in part for a vacation
in part to meet some of the women i had corresponded with from Latin Euro

in some sense it is very different from the other countries in that there are a lot of women who want husbands, but are not willing to leave brazil, once you go you will know why

i did not find a love connection but found a few women that have possibilities.

i had a great time and will return.
i, and some friends, have bought tickets to spend the week of Carnival in rio.
i may also return for 10 days in january, as that's the first time i have available for vacation.  i'm unsure of where i will visit, but probably the bahia region and sao paulo for a few  days (i plan on using frequent flier miles and delta flies there)

Rio - rio is Rio, especially the area around the copacabana beach, as there are a lot of semi profesional women hanging out there, so although they would love to have husbands, they are not the type most American males would ever marry

i think in order to really do wife hunting in rio you need to access the middle class/upper middle class populations in that city
luckily i met a married woman who is helping me out in that respect
i spent 3 days in Rio

Aracaju is a small town on the northeast coast, i was there for 3 days , and it rained every day, i went to meet b122 of latin euro, (her sister is b137), she was 2 days late in meeting me, so we spent part of a day together

Forteleza is the 5th or 6th largest city in Brazil, and is located on the northern coast.  i spent 4 days there, had a fantastic time, was able to meet lots of women, but they were all fairly young, 18-22, and they said they were ready to get married, but in all honesty we did not have all that much in common, besides hanging out at the beach and visiting clubs at night.
spent 4 days in forteleza

was in sao paulo, the 3rd largest city in the world, for 4 days. B590(?) took a 5 hour bus ride to meet me and spend her birthday with me, she was great. met 2 other women from latin euro, and found that a bunch of them were already married, with boyfriends, bad telephone numbers, bad cell phones, etc. etc.

there were also some other women who lived in the state of sao paulo who invited me to visit them, but since i was solo, i would have had to drive by myself, had i had a navigator i would have rented a car and drove the 2 or 4 hours outside the city to meet them and see more of the country.

i was able to talk wih, but not meet in person, some doctor, lawyer, professional women from rio do sul.  They have invited me to stay with them on my next trip to brazil or they said they would take vacation and visit me in sao paulo, as they are originally from there.

but in general i had a great vacation and will return.
the agency scene is few and far between , so you are pretty much on your own.  I met a lot of women, of all types, married and single, who just wanted to talk to an american and practice their english.

i found a very, very small agency. So small that i wouldnt join, but the owner will run some personal ads for me.
addy is
http://hp.bahianews.com.br/vitrines/carametade_ing.htm

I'm hoping that and a few other things will help me get access to at least middle class, college educated women

Pack, i hope you heart is ok

btw Brazilianas are just as late to everything as Calenas

wow you have been a busy guy!! sounds like you kris crossed the entire country of brazil. yes i have also heard from other gringos that the women are more than ready to get married but unlike their colombian counterparts are not so willing to leave their beautiful country of brazil.

i was surfing the and came across a web ( cant remember the name) it had the populations around the world by countries , continents, cities etc. it says sau paulo brazil is now the largest city in the world just barely beating out mexico city.

so jesse in your opinion which country has the prettiest and sweeties girls colombia or brazil? or is it to close to decide?

when is carnival is that november?

oh by the way when i returned from cali i had a letter and photo's waiting for me from a very pretty girl in brazil, she seems to be very interested in me.

glad you had a great trip and returned safely. c ya
