To all,

Here's a warning about the dangers of using a credit card to charge on the internet.

About a year ago I bought a few addresses from International Friends online and charged it to my credit card.

Yesterday I received my latest bill from my Visa card and it contained a new $150 charge from International Friends.

I emailed the company and told them there must be some mistake and could they please reverse this charge.

They wrote back apologetically and told me a computer virus caused them to charge my account and that they will reverse it.  Since I am not an expert in this field, I have no way of knowing whether this response is accurate.  If it is, then I need to reconsider charging on the web.

Interesting you bring up this probem with international friends.  I made the mistake of ordering from them.  Yet nothing has been received.  Currently working with my CC company to get charges reversed.  I have received no contact from international friends despite repeated attempts to contact them.  BEWARE!!

Obwan,

Your response came late and tucked away here that many people may not have seen it.  You may want to post with a heading indicating unhappiness with this company so others will see it and be warned.

Yeah a virus if they wrote it...   Don't even call them back, just go to your CC company and contest it.  No virus did that.

I would never use international friends They sell address of women who are already marred, i.e. old address, as far as I know they are one worst Co. to buy address from!!!!!

I think their explanation is very suspect, I suggest writing them back and asking for a further clarification.  Ask them how the virus was able to process a $150 order.

that's b.s. about the virus thing. they had to type in your c.c.# from a list that they have kept. i have had the same problem before (not an agency), and they all blame it on some fluke!

p.s. never use a debit card for any online transactions.

I use Citibank for Online, they have the best service for scams. I always buy parts for work online, they have agreed with 100% of my contested accounts.

Good luck

Bret,

The company rep says I must send him the last four digits of my card and my expiration date before he can reverse the charges.  Do you think I have any risk by sending him this info?

i would handle it all with my credit card company. when i had the same problem, i called the vendor that had used my c.c.# and she first denied it, then made a lame excuse, and then got really defensive.

so i just said goodbye to her and delt directly with my credit card company to have the charge credited back to my account.

i don't know why they would want more c.c.# info when they already made a charge to your account without your permission.

sounds a little fishy. did you contact your c.c. company and tell them the story?
