Where to eat in Cali. If I had to give a recommendation for a place to eat it would be the steak place (house) in either of the two malls in Cali. The first name eludes me, I think it's sounds like “Edison”, but the last name is "Carbon" You can buy a double Filet Mignon, with potato, and side dish, with a Coke, or fruit drink, for under $6.00 US. It's not fancy buy a long shot, but its great food. I would suggest off-hours to beat the lines, during the week are fine. Avoid Sunday afternoons, the line can get 20 long waiting for a table. Another nice place, but by no means cheap (expensive by Colombian standards), is El Cortile, which is in South Cali near the University, south of the Unicentral mall. The owner is a nice person, speaks excellent English, his wife is wonderful, and the Italian food is good. I think it's a great place for a romantic dinner. I’d say dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine with tip say $60 US.

... in response to Lesson #2 "Places to eat in Cali&qu..., posted by Me again on Aug 7, 2001

The restaurant is Lenos y Carbon and is a typical bar b que colombian style. Ill Cortille is owned by Diego Reyes a friend to all the americans using the agencies. Diego went to school in Italy and speaks fluent English. The block he is in has a japonese,a peruvian and a the crepes and waffles restaurant which is probably the best deal in Cali. Crepes for two with soft drinks about $11.00 US. For those in the north as I posted recently, the area of El Penon near the Dann hotel has about ten restaurants  ranging from Thai -Indian to mexican. I agree with your appraisal of the restaurants. Diego once had his own agency and is on good terms with all owners.  If you need help in Cali he is the Guy. JIM C
