FSU vs Latin ladies

Hey guy,

I was married to a Russian girl for 4 years (ending in divorce) and I'm thinking about checking out the Latin/Colombian situation.  What do you guys think is the difference between these two cultures and the probability for success?

Marriages fail  under the most ideal circumstances (same culture, same language, constant contact and communication), what makes you think it'll be a slam dunk if you choose to go to Colombia?

One reason I think Russian-American marriages tend to fail more than Latina-American marriages is because of the "whiteness" factor, as has been discussed on this board before, in LA there exists a class system and most of the people in the upper class tend to be light skinned, lighter skin, blue, green eyes, blond hair are  viewed as being more attractive in LA.

On TV latinas are bombarded with images of beautiful  latinas with white men, living in fantasy worlds.

Have you ever heard the saying "Mejorando la raza"?

When a white man goes to LA he is different, when he goes to Russia he's just another guy.

hey juan,

I agree with your post.  in fact, I have observed it.  yes, a gringo in latin america enjoys a kind of "celebrity" status.  and I agree with you point about "mejorando la raza".  I met a girl in Santo Domingo who said she wanted to marry a white guy so her children would be light skinned.  she was morena.  we had a huge discussion about the "race" factor in LA a few months back and for whatever reason, guys here REFUSED to accept that it occurs.  despite exactly what you said  "white" is thought to be beautiful.  that is what is projected in the mass media and is ingrained in the culture.

however!!!,  I would also think that an American in Russia would also be viewed as somewhat as a novelty as well.  not because he is white but simply because he is American.  and again it seems to me the social and economic situation of the countries drives this business.  rhetorical question:  where are the agencies in France, Luxemburg, Japan, Iceland?

I have a friend who is about as white as you can get
and always had very poor experiences with women in
the US. He goes to Mexico and a women pick up on
him. They have been seeing each other for over a year
now and I recently met her. She told me she talked to
him because he was very handsome. I have heard
some women here refer to him as "nerd boy" obviously
not finding him attractive. Over here no women even
look at him. He said in Mexico he was "eyeballed"
frequently. So I guess a gringo is the hot ticket there.
Now my question is I am asian (don't look FOB) and
have a bodybuilder type build. How do latin women feel
about asians? I haven't heard anything about this.

I think alot depends on you.  I have a friend in PR who is a big weightlifter guy too, but he doesn't have much success.  I think latin people tend to generalize alot about asians (oriental), refering to all of them as "chino" regardless of their nationality.  

but to be honest, I think its alot like the US in this regard.  I don't see alot of AW with asian men and I don't think alot of latin women are interested in asian men.  I am talking in general "what do they find attractive" terms.  but again, it depends on you as an individual.

Why there are literally hundreds of thousands of agencies outside FSU and LA...in fact FSU and LA pale in comparison to the number of Dating/Matrimonial agencies in this world...see what I mean about being SOS...do a search for dating services...you wouldn't be able to visit every sight in 10 yrs I'd bet. And thats Excluding FSU and LA.

I was talking to a lawyer about the support agreement you must sign to obtain residency for your wife.  He said "I wouldn't worry if it was a Latina because they are generally a hard-working group.  If it was a Russian woman I would be worried."  I infer that to mean that they are used to the socialist system where the state will take care of you, if necessary.

I also agree that Latin women are warmer.  Sometimes even hot, and that can mean sexually, or that can mean they get very angry, too.  But these are just my opinions.

A more important point is I think that Latin women, particularly the Colombians, are more eager to get married and come to the US.  I don't have scientific data for this, but I found a Colombian wife very quickly.  My friend who is looking for a Russian wife is still looking after 3 years.  However, many would say that is "anecdotal evidence".

But for me, I would go to Colombia because I think they are more beautiful.  My friend is more attracted to Russians.

I can't explain the cultural differences between latinas and Russian women, let alone the nexus that causes their relationships to fail, but I can say with certainty that as an attorney I see an almost 100% failure rate of marriages between Russian women (FSU) and American men.  I have many clients who traveled to the FSU and brought back what I would call babes of 9 to 10 caliber.   High maintenance, big-bucks broads who want the big diamond ring, new car, big house, and when they get it, they then start hounding the husband to bring over their mother and family.  If he does not do this, then they dump him immediately.  If he does bring over mommy and the family, he has bought a little more time, but the liability created by the I-864 support document creates his demise financially.

Before I married my Paisita, I researched carefully the success rates of marriages between gringos and colombianas.  I'm happy to say that based upon MY personal research, it is better than a 85% success rate.

Women from the FSU are great to RENT.  Latinas are great to make your wife.

ok...Here's my take on this issue.  The Russian ladies come from a very bitter cold climate and a part of the world with a long history of major world wars and conflicts so they tend to be very protective, uptight, defensive, and distrusting.  Whereas the Latinas come from an open tropical warm climate and blue skies.  Bingo!...they are more affectionate, warmer, more trusting, more fun, and able to dress daily with a paucity of clothing.  We are products of our environment.  It's that simple!  Of course there are exceptions to my rule.

I have no experience with Russian women but their reputation is very bad.The general comments is they tend to have no morals or values.
Latin women are much different I think.If you can avoid the ones who are big trouble(I think you get lots of warning flags)and find a good one,you would have to really screw up for her to ever leave you.I think guys run in to problems when they get caught up with a very beautifull woman and don't want to heed the warning signs.That is not to say you can't get a good latina who is beautifull,you just need to be carefull.My theory is you can always tell the really good ones,be carefull if they seem less than really good.
My Colombian wife is a very good person and has extremely high morals.My only problem is she is too conservative.
Also there is the looks thing.Some guys go for the Russians because they like fair skin and light hair.Give me a somewhat short dark eyed tan skinned Latina with a nice bubble butt any day.Did you ever she Kruschef's(spelling I know) wife?She looked about like him.I don't think the really light skinned ones age well,particularly the Russians.

I don't know if you remember me but one time I e-mailed you with questions about making a trip to SA to look for a wife. I had abandoned the idea but I am back at reading the post with and still thinking about going to SA in late July.

Probability of success is entirely up to you and the lady, so I think any answers on that line would be meaningless. My advice is not to go too far in terms of age difference and looks than you would be able to with an American woman.  Few men involved in this seem to want to do that though.

As for the differences, I would say (in my opinion only) that Latin ladies are more likely to be religious and come from a sociey in which divorces are not as common (see http://www.planet-love.com/divorce.html for worldwide statistics).  Unfortunately, Colombia, which is where most of the Latin ladies in agencies come from, is not included in the stats.

Many of the men over at the Russian board are -- by their own admission -- quite religious, practicing a Christian faith of one kind or another and they openly admit to looking for a woman who will share his devotion to religion. This is solely on my own opinion, but I believe these men would do better to look for a Latin or Fillipina (quite actively practising Catholic societies) woman, if this is what they seek, since their odds of finding such a woman are not as great in the republics of the FSU, where nearly seventy-five years of communism has meant official atheisim and a suppression of religion. Not the kind of a society to foster people with strong religious faith, is it?

Not true.   When I was corresponding with Russian women, I got several letters from women who said they were devoutly Russian Orthodox seeking a religious man.  You also have Catholics in western Ukraine.  Conversely, there are plenty of Latin women who could care less about the religion they were raised in.  You have to look at the individual.  Generalities are useless.
