Hello,

Thanx for continuing to put up info for us new guys.  I did the Russian thing and was married for 4 years before she hit the road...mutually.

I like the idea of having a little more spiritually grounded women this time.  Man I'm getting too old for this starting over nonsense. (I'm 37)

For almost every jest there is some truth.  How much of that "Latin Lies" website is true?  Obviously most of it, if you guys are still in the hunt.

Do you guys have any advice for a guy going down for the 1st time?  I've done the writing thing with Russians, and I really question the usefulness of it.  I'm thinking about just going down and winging it with an agency.  Plus, my friend has a wonderful Colombian wife that has a best friend....in Cali.

What's the cheapest way to get to Cali from LAX.  Anybody go from there.

Also, anybody curious about the Russian scene..socials etc. etc. just ask.  It's a jungle out there.

Take care,
Wayne

American Airlines from LAX about 585.00 if booked in advance. Otherwise through Miami about the same price. Need an agency? Go to either Norms or Margareth's agencies. Both are located in good areas and girls and accomodations great. Stay away from Robert's place (LatinWomenConnection) What a s--- hole!

Could you please give the web address for Norms or Margareth's agencies because since I'm new, that description doesn't mean much to me.

Thank you.

Wayne,
Trust me on this one. If you're interested in agencies that have WOMEN and serious about a great selection talk to Margareth or her ex-husband Ricardo. Bewteen the two of them they easily have 600 - 700 girls that ARE AVAILABLE. Their agencies are only a few blocks apart and they both are open to discussing terms without the bull---- membership fees. In fact LWC  was such a joke that Margareth extended my stay at her place for only $ 25.00 per night with full access to everything. Now that is an agency owner who cares as much about good customers as she does about her own girls. Without promoting anyone too much, if you want I will send you both e-mail addresses to your address.tommiboy1@earthlink.net

Bottom line: Cali was fantastic! The people are beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone who has a sincere interest in going. I'll be back in October and again in December for the New Year's festivities.

Get a grip. Never said they're working together. They have sperate agencies that a few blocks apart. I'm saying I don't pay a membership fee and that I know Margareth will negotiate rates with serious enquirers. And yes...I paid by the night with no additional costs. Ask and though shalt receive.

Ricardo offered me two different rates based only on the size of the room I wanted. One was 45.00 per night and the other was $ 70.00 per night and included an in room jacuzi. Both rates gave me full services at his agency. Pack, all you need to do is stand your ground, ask a few questions, and politely state your needs. I never met any agency owners until June and I can honestly say they're a good bunch (with the exception of 1) of folks just trying to make a living.

Hi Wayne,

Just some advice about visiting Cali. The first thing to note is that you will probably be making more than one trip.

Have someone pick you up at the airport, either from an agency or maybe that friend of a friend. Be cautious about taking an unknown taxi from the airport.

While at an agency, set up three to four interviews a day, anymore than that is pretty hard.  You will likely have some no shows. Try to attend a party or two. You can meet more ladies in a short period of time that way.  The parties are a good way to screen several ladies. The photos in the book can be somewhat misleading in some ways.  Some of the ladies may have a little darker skin than the photo shows, particularly if it is professionally taken.  Naturally it depends on what type of lady your are looking for. Make sure your interviews are informal and fun, and not like a job interview.  If she has time, you may want to take a taxi to the mall and walk around together, or go to lunch.

Most of the girls wear those two or three inch high heels, so if you have an appointment with someone about your same height, she will appear taller than you.

Language will be problem if you don't speak Spanish.  The majority of the ladies speak very little if any English.  So going on a date can be a little rough if you can't talk much.

Head out to the malls, like Unicentro or Chipi Chapa (sp?) for day of looking and walking around.  You are not likely to meet many ladies that way, but you can get a good look at the typical upper to middle class ladies. There are lots of ATMs at the malls.

Taxis are everywhere and cheap.  After dark, take only a taxi that has been called for you. The ladies you are with will keep you away from the dangerous areas.

Mostly have fun, and come back with two or three names and numbers to follow up on.  Good luck,

mike

Hi Wayne,
I am leaving LAX and going to Cali in a couple of days.
Round trip fare with all taxes $670. This is via Dallas and Miami, American Airlines. It's a long flight leaving early in the AM arriving in the evening. I booked online at economytravel.com about two weeks ago. As for research and opinions check out this group and the Two Gringos website and forum. Great stuff to be found for people who are new to the idea or LA generally or Colombia specifically.

On the cheapest way down from LAX... when I looked I found that LACSA was cheapest for July, but I couldn't get their flights to show up on Travelocity.com.  Looking there it appeared that American Airlines via Miami was cheapest.  Look also at http://www.grupotaca.com.  Compared to American, LACSA has the disadvantage of a 1AM departure time and stop-throughs in Mexico City and San Jose, but the arguable advantage of putting you on the ground in a strange and dangerous city during daylight hours (3PM).  I was looking for Bogota, so the info may be different for Cali.  It also appears that the consolidators are cheaper than the Internet sites, including Grupo TACA's.  I used www.eXito.com.  I was also told that June 15th through August 15th is the most expensive time to travel to Latin America--US students drive up the ticket prices.
