This just came across the tape:
BOGOTA, Colombia (AP)--Colombian guerrillas have agreed to free a top soccer official they kidnapped three days ago, the official's daughter said Thursday.
Milena Mejia, the daughter of Hernan Mejia, told Colombia's RCN radio that she had received word from the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia that they would be releasing her father shortly.
Mejia did not have further details on the impending release of the 66-year-old official, the Vice President of the Colombian Soccer Federation, who was snatched a rebel roadblock on Monday. There was no immediate confirmation of release plans from the rebel group, known as the FARC.
The news came amid unconfirmed reports that the kidnapping had already prompted South American soccer officials to cancel plans to hold the Americas Cup soccer tournament in Colombia in July due to the country's rampant violence
and insecurity.
Earlier Thursday, nine South American countries set to take part in the Copa America in Colombia in July had called for the soccer tournament to be moved, saying, saying they were concerned about security.
