Hi Georgina.  Nice to meet you.  I used to travel to Lima alot, several years ago.  I stopped going after my last fiasco with a pretty Peruvian lady.  She had a secret love affair going in Peru before she arrived here.  I sensed trouble before her arrival in the States so I directed her to leave her daughter with her parents.  After a few weeks with me she disclosed the full extent of her deception.  Her betrayal had been ongoing for almost a year.  Then I was a plain stupid gringo. Anyway I fell in love with Lima and the Peruvian people my first visit there.  On my first visits..I stayed downtown at the Hotel San Martin.  Then I discovered Mira Flores and always stayed there at the Hostal Mira Flores.  I made alot of friends in Lima.  It was like a second home for me.  I was two blocks away from that car bomb that blew up in Mira Flors several years ago by the Shining Path rebels.  I started running but didn't know which direction to run.  Glass was cracking and falling all over the streets and sidewalks from the building tops so I couldn't discern the source of the explosion.  My friend Jorge ran one way I ran the opposite way.  We were both confused.  I was curious and wanted to go closer but Jorge told me that there could be a second one ready to blow. I remember one time standing in the crashing Pacific surf and looking up at the cliffs by Mira Flores.  What an awsome view! I was told to stay out of the water or I'd get sick but after a few beers it was the natural thing to do!  Anyway that Peruvian lady went on to marry and have a baby with her lover.  They sinced divored and she calls me every month asking for money.  Sometimes I send money.  Why?  Because I know it will be used to feed and clothe and educate her family.  She was never a drug or alcohol party girl.  The money always went to support her poor family.  Of course I would never trust her with my heart again.  I have zero interest in her.  But I do feel sorry for her and the extremely poor people in this world.  It's a crime in my opinion.  Anyway Lima is a very social  city.  Everybody's walking and socializing on the streets.  I always loved that.   Is it tough for you in Seattle? Do you miss Lima?  If you care to divulge.  Take care.

and Nice to meet you too. I was sorry to know about your experience with my "paisana" Peruvian lady. Well, it seems that at the end she was the one who lost. I do not agree with the idea of sending money sometimes, but it is your decision and if she really uses it for her poor family.

Oh, I remember those terrible times. I was at home when it happened. I used to lived like 30 minutes from Miraflores. It was so horrible to watch the images on TV. It was the first time that something like this happened in the Capital. A friend of a close friend died there. I will always remember this image of a man calling the names of his family in the middle of the destruction.

I will hate this happening again but our governments are not doing anything to the roots of these violent movement to grow again.

Now there is a monument between the buildings where the bomb went off and a little park. Cars are not permitted to pass accross this Tarata Street.

I went to Limas during the last Christmas. Miraflores is a wonderful place. My husband loves it too. He always says I miss my Miraflores. We stayed in the Eucaliptus Hostal. Is comfortable and cheap. We stayed there like 15 days, paying $48 for a nice room with a view to the street. Taxes and breakfast included and hot water (really important). My husband loves this room because he can see in the balcony and have a beer watching the people come and go. Just telling you in case you want to go sometime.

I do not know if you saw it, but there is a beautiful mall "Larco Mar" just in the waterfront. They constructed it like 3 or 4 years ago. You have discos, bars (Hard Rock cafe), shopping center, movie theater, etc. And the view at night is owesome. You should go back one day. Do you still having friends over there? because if you don't Just tell me if you want to go back there some time but wouldnt like to go alone I have good and honest friends who would like to practice their English while showing you around.

Thanks for the info.  I'll remember that hotel.  I appreciate the offer for an escort but if I return to Lima I plan to purchase a membership at one of the introduction agencies. So, most of my time will be spent in meeting the prospective ladies from Lima.  Thanks again.
