Dear sir:

Margareth wants to charge me $1000.00 for the notary but
I will be using a different notary.  I guess you can ask her via e-mail why it is so expensive.
She has stated to me that notaries hate american men marrying their colombian ladies and will tell the American "Sorry, I need one more paper."  and then the american man must go back to USA.
Margareth has always been honest with me and I have been honest with her also.  So I have told her recently that I might not use her notary because it is so expensive.  Anyway, she is not angry about it so I guess it really is up to you, the customer, to shop for the best deal and that is what I am going to do right now.

A notary here (USA) charges $60+

How it is possible that a Notary in Colombia charges you $1500. I hate when people assume that since you are gringo they can steal your money without you feeling it because "gringos have a lot of money"

I would recommend your fiancee contacting the notaries. Finding out prices. She can use the yellow pages. And find out what papers you need to take there.

Good luck,

Georgina

Dear Madam:

I have two notaries available and I will use one of them.  I think it is about 150.00 to 200.00 for a notary.  Is that reasonable?

                                  Sincerely,

I am glad you find one. It sounds fine for me taking into consideration that they would have to do extra stuff for you since you are not a resident. In my country they put a small note in the newspaper telling that Miss... is going to marry Mr.... and if someone knows of any impediment, they shoul let them know. Good luck! Georgina

Your ladies live in Colombia. So, why don't they contact the notaries by themselves instead of a 3rd person? I am sure she can find them in the yellow pages. She can ask them what papers you need to bring there in order to get married and how much it costs. A notary in the United States charges you $60+ dollars. How it is possible to charge someone $1000 to $1500. Dear sirs, smells fishy over there.

I think a common problem many men have in this is that they want an agency to do too much for them.  Some agencies have responded to this desire by offering all kinds of services.  These are businesses, just like your local grocery store, and they are in business to make a profit.   Of course they'll add cost to averything they do for you.   When you pay for convenience, you lose control of some things and open the door for disappointment.

I would suggest taking a more independent approach.  Do things for yourself.  Forget  having the agency do it for you.  If you want to get married, do so, but don't have an agency do it for you.  Don't count on an agency to "screen" women for you.  Nobody can tell what's inside a woman's heart.  Only sound judgement on your part can determine what her real intentions are.  Take your time, STUDY SPANISH!  Get to know many women over an extended period, and when you find "the one" pursue things.

Counting on an agency to do everything for you comes too close to actually "ordering" a bride.   Use them for what they're good at- Getting you in touch with women who are interested in Gringos.  Then MOVE THINGS  OUTSIDE the agency.   Do the rest yourself.  You'll be better off in the long run.

Hey guys ! listen to this one. Patrick is right on the money!. If I could tell the future or read people's minds, I will be rich ! Let's see.......... 23,56,68,13,33,45 if you play these numbers in the coming lottery, you are a fool. However relationships are not a lottery, everything that you get, was always there, you just did not see it at the time or did not WANT to.  Take charge of your life, we are only here to help, facilitate but not to sale you a woman.

DITTO! I have stated the same on many occasions only to be flamed! so many guys seek latinas from LA and they say they dont want party girls or meat market atmospheres but they dont care to take the time to fluently learn spanish beforehand so they pull out the credit card and the first and only place they go is to agencies on vacation where they pay to pick women out of a book, they pay to be at a party attended by lots of sexy women where they pay someone to approach and speak to the women for them, one guy actually instructed his interpreter to make sure she was good one for him? lol, and these total strangers get married and down the line when things just arent the same as they were during the Colombian mailorderbride fantasy vacation these guys blame the agencies and the poor ladies for their personal failures!
Agencies are a great place for a starting base and I feel for the owners because they obviously put up with a lot of BS, but one should not be limited to that, get out on your own like a normal independent man and meet the ladies who dont go to agency parties, they are in the malls, the restaurants, at the bus stop or at the church and approach them on your own with your own charm, would you pay somebody to approach and speak to women for you in your home country? I think not/I HOPE NOT!
              Have a great Day!
