http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34587

"What is marriage? Why do two people tie a knot between them forever? Why only two people? Why not groupings of three, four or more?
Why do men marry women, and women marry men? Why can't men marry men and women marry women? "

"These questions – unspoken and unthought-of by most people in previous generations – are the stuff of headlines, court challenges and tumultuous social upheaval right now."

Here's a lenghty article that seeks to answer these questions from a Judeo-Christian point of view.

Thanks Matt.

The article was a little lengthy but very informative and well written. It's nice to hear the other side once in a while after being bombarded by the gay activist and radical feminist viewpoint on marriage. I wonder which category William fits into? ROFL!

Worldnetdaily is a tabloid type 'newspaper' with a decided
far right slant.
Take with a grain of salt.

Yes Sir, I would much rather read the NY Times- http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/06/05/nytimes.resigns/
-and any article by Mr. Jayson Blair.

It always amuses me how anyone can get caught up in the right vs. left faux arguments. However, this is not a political board.

Indeed, I have the utmost confidence in members here at the Asian board, to be able to think for themselves, and judge for themselves, informational sources.

I posted the Worldnetdaily article because this is the Asian board, and a large number here are interested in the Philippines. And, the majority of Filipinas are Catholic. And so, this article goes along with that.

How? Because a lot of Filipinas look for the man to be strong and an example to their future children. The information in the article could be used in a variety of ways, whether the husband is Christian or not.

I have also had experiences with Chinese ladies, and the Chinese community in the city in which I reside. Some other members have recently mentioned Japanese ladies and their experiences. And some members are visiting Vietnam and other SE Asian countries.

However, the majority of posts here do concern the Philippines.

Religion is important for a lot of Filipina ladies. That's why my post with the Worldnetdaily link was made. It was not made to start any kind of political debate of "right vs. left". (What does that mean anyway? Our Founding Fathers were liberal. I submit that what's left of our liberties are being eroded while some of us get caught up in faux "left vs. right" debates.)

Furthermore, not only do the majority of members of the Asian Board take the "news" with a grain of salt, they take every post here with a grain of salt.

And concerning my previous post, I provided this statement:
"Here's a lenghty article that seeks to answer these questions from a Judeo-Christian point of view."

That's what the Philippines is-a Catholic country. Some of the members of the board are interested in the Philippines.

I felt that with my one sentence advisory, members could decide for themselves whether or not they wanted to spend the time to read the lenghty article.  I don't think that the readers here at the Asian board need any other kind of warning. If the readers here are independent-minded enough to look to the Orient, ie Asia, for a possible life-mate, then they have enough wisdom to be able to discern for themselves "tabloid" information.

As for me personally, I favour this quote by Wendell Phillips: "Write on my gravestone: 'Infidel, traitor.'--infidel to every church that compromises with wrong; traitor to every government that oppresses the people."

Good afternoon y'all.

You can’t handle the “truth”? ROTFLMGDAO!

EXACTLY what in that article do you disagree with? Are you in favor of “gay marriages”?? Did you even read the article??? I doubt it!

If you have something intelligent to say regarding the article in question or the subject of “gay marriage” in general, then please enlighten us. Otherwise, you can stay over on the Russian board and spout your communist propaganda. We’ve heard all of your far-left nonsense before, thanks... :-)

Now that’s just MY $.02,

Worldnetdaily often offers opinion and wishful thinking as fact.
I have heard and read some neo-cons site WND as a source or as 'proof' to back up their thoughts only to find that they were refering to an article that was just that: opinion or wishful thinking.

It is an obviously bias site; but not everyone is aware that it is very slanted.
I was generalizing, not about this particular item.

Not everyone who disagrees with the radical right is a communist or a 'traitor'.

of "Worldnetdaily ... offer(ing) opinion and wishful thinking as fact."- should not be hard if it happens "often".

You do not believe "this particular item" should be "Take(n) with a grain of salt."? Then what was the point of bringing it up?

What is a neo-con?

Neo-con:
Neo: as in new, recent
Con: as in conservative
Neo-con is the short version of new conservative.

The traditional conservative was for balanced budget, small government. Keep the government out of your personal business. States rights. etc. etc. etc.
Neo-cons are, at least in wispered comments, just the opposite of these things.

Pointing out instances of opinion presented as fact would take up as much space at the article itself.
Marriage, at least as it has evolved in the last decades, is a contract between the individuals and the state. Religion, fearful of loosing any more power, is trying to hang on the this 'control' avenue. Hence the conflict.

We are getting farther from the main subject of this board.

Sorry William, but you still sound like a typical commie to me.

Please take your radical leftist trash somewhere else, like back to the Russian Board...

Bye!

Right on Harold,

If neo-conservatives were for big government, big brother, and deficits, then they'd be democrats! -LOL

Let's see;
Bush increased the size of government to record levels.
Bush ran the surplus into the ground and now has a record deficit.
Bush, and his pal ASScroft, are snooping into your library and internet activities.

Guess that means Bush is a democrat.

Could have fooled me.

was the accusation with which you began this threadlet. It is pointless to expect any proof of your biased and slanted fantasy because "It's all Bush's fault." is but the currently fashionable mantra of your mindless crowd.

You are not a communist but merely a useful idiot- an areligious fanatic, in fact, chanting venomous dogma fed to you by those addicted to power.

You have not the conviction to be a traitor- only a cheap thrill as you smugly pretend to superior enlightenment.

To paraphrase Winston Churchhill: If you are not a liberal at twenty, you have no heart. If you are not a conservative at forty, you have no brain.

You are a 57 year old guy 'just interested' in East Europeans who feels it necessary to do politically motivated sniping on an Asian discussion board. Get a life.

As I expencted, like most neo-conservatives, you dance away from the idiot in chiefs screw-ups and toss insults.

Typical.

Remember Kennedy, the biggest tax cut in history, Mr. "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Nowadays, the neo-libs, all ask "who's going to pay for MY perscriptions." "When am I going to get MINE?" All they seem to do is completely ignore the facts (More guns - less crime, the failure of socialism everywhere else, the fabulous success of cutting tax rates in places like Ireland, the well documented principles that goverment regulation of EVERYTHING results in scarcity and disasterous declines in quality, etc. etc. etc,) and go headlong towards the abyss of socialism.
