... in response to Fringe element??, posted by Humabdos on Jun 21, 2003

I think that a great deal of people would have reservations about illegal aliens.  Personally, we have laws to follow.  If a person want to come to America, then they can follow the laws of the country.  That goes for Mexicans and Filipinos.  Illegal aliens should be booted out of the country.

But when a group resorts to the use of world like "wetbacks", "bastards", "rat-like Breeding habits" it exposes them as radicals.  (Language such as that should be reserved for the Clintons.)

Such language will drive away people that might otherwise support your general beliefs.

For example:

-You say "Tired of supporting your rat-like breeding habits".

-Instead say, "You know, taxes are just out of control.  Here isn California we have a $38 billion defecit.  We can't afford illegal aliens having children at the county hospital at an average of $6,000 per child.  I'm sure you're good folks who want a better life for your children, and I don't fault you for that.  BUT WE CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $6,000 FOR EACH BABY YOU WANT TO HAVE.  I can't afford your good intentions.  You'll have to go back to Mexico.  You're Govt. will have to take care of you."

Or:

-You say "Wetback bastards".

-Instead say, "Illegal aliens".  They want to be referred to as "undocumented workers", but they are ILLEGALS.  We should say "If you come here you must obey our laws.  Slipping accross the border is illegal.  You have no respect for our country.  People who don't respect our country wouldn't make good citizens."

These are better examples of language that does not sound mean-spirited.  (Liberals will look for anything to use to call you "mean-spirited."  We don't need to play into their hands.)  You'll get a lot more people to support a cause like that than one whose banner is "KILL THE BASTARDS!.

By the way, Canadians who are here illegally need to be kicked out also.

Just some thoughts.

Stephen

PS....Why don't you post this on the Latin Board also.  I'm sure they would enjoy your poetry and thoughts.

I didn't check out the site, but I never thought it was a quote from Rush Limbaugh.  Limbaugh doesn't talk that way.

By the way.....Jeff...I can't get you on your email.  It always bounces back.

Let's have lunch that Chinese place Tess like's so well.  How about next week if possible.

Stpehen

PS....My diet is going well.  I started Atkins on 1-16-03 and so far I've gone from 206 to 179.

... in response to I'm in - Tuesday (n/t), posted by Jeff S on Jun 23, 2003

Stephen & Tess, Eric the Windmill Boy, and I will be at Kim Su Chinese Resturaunt on the corner of Ward and Bolsa in the Little Saigon part of Westminister California in Orange County (between LA & San Diego) at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday - come on over!

Kim Su (Golden Lion in Chinese) features Dim Sum for lunch. Dim Sum means "heart's delight" but is called "Cantonese breakfast" by most Chinese. Women pushing small carts circulate among the tables, each offering different types of dishes. The steamed food cart usually has things like shu mai, small meat balls wrapped in a noodle-like skin three or four to a serving, ha gao, shrimp wrapped in a rice noodle skin, steamed ribs, etc. The fried food cart has egg rolls, fried won tons, crab cakes, etc., the soups & stews cart has porrage (rice soup) and Tess and my favorite, Chinese spicy tripe, etc. It's fun and tasty sampling from dozens and dozens of different appetizer sized items.

Drop by and give us a hi!

No, but he does sniff everything thoroughly before putting it in his mouth, and mostly sticks with the pork and shrimp dishes.

Are you in Ray? I know it's an hour and half or so drive.

ROFLMAO! Maybe Stephen would enjoy it more if he were wearing a blindfold.

I don't think we will be able to make it, but thanks a bunch for the invite. I really do hate to pass up a bowl of that Chinese Spicy Tripe! :-)

Speaking of Chinese food, we were up that way last week and had the $99 lunch special at the Golden Dragon down in Old Chinatown. Of course, that included the tip and the $65 parking ticket. No wonder people don’t go downtown in L.A. anymore (LOL). I hadn’t been down to Chinatown in years and was surprised that it was almost totally dead now. Didn’t see anybody wearing any SARS masks...

Bon Apetite!

They're all in Alhambra, Monterey Park, and Roland Heights. The downtown Chinatown is mostly Mexican now, with a few old timer Chinese holdouts. Last time I was in downtown LA was to get Mariko's passport renewed and she just rememded me that it's coming up again later this year - so it'll be five years.
