In case you couldn't guess, that is the name of my book. Partially due to the ship of the same name which is converted to a hotel/bar/restaurant on Mactan island, which is mentioned several times in the book.

The book is coming along nicely, am currently at 100+ manuscript pages. Have been working hard on it, and barring any unforseen delays should be done well before the end of the year. I have learned a lot about writing in the last 2 months.

I am trying to put in as much info for newbies as I possibly can, including everything I can recall about the differences in culture, lifestyles, language, etc. I'm including all interactions with different introduction methods, and the ladies I met through them.

When I first started this quest, there was very little info available, I hope to alter that somewhat. Although some of it deals with unpleasant events, I am trying to keep the story interesting and humorous, not always an easy task.  Old timers and newbies alike should be well entertained.

Going through all my old trip reports, notes, emails, and pictures has brought back a lot of memories. I am literally reliving the whole experience. Amazing how many little details I have forgotten. It is hard to believe all this really happened. My life must have been very boring before I jumped on that first plane.

All in all, I have no regrets. I have learned from all the good and bad experiences.

I have some concerns about the ending, but I guess I'll print that page in life when I get to it.  Smiley

All for now.

Larry.

I'll have to give that some thought. Wouldn't be much different than some of the other scenes.  Smiley

sounds better. Writing about your adventure traveling over the Philippines looking like a Filipino. When your looking like a Filipino, your treated good. When you start looking like your normal self, they take advantage of You.  Just Joking..Your book title sounds Grrrrreat..Cannot wait to purchase it. You deserve to start making money after what happened to you. Poor today Rich tomorrow...Gooood Luck Larry. Shocked) greg

I thinking breaking even would be a more realistic goal for anyone writing a book unless their name happens to be Stephen King.  There's just not that big a market for a book like this and getting published for someone like Shadow is usually a matter of paying a publisher to print the book for you.  Then you try to find a market for it on your own.

Why don't you contact Jean and have her sell your book at her site.  She seems to be good at marketing.

I suggest you use Hum as your agent.  He has a real way with Jean.

Just an idea.  (LOL)

my book probably won't be very conducive to Jean's agenda.  Smiley

Hum would be the best agent, though!

Maybe if Larry puts in a few catfights she'll go for it :-)  Then we'll get our old Hum back - and no more of this mild mannered roofer stuff -LOL!

Seriously, I'd like to know whatever became of that poor bargirl who kept nodding off in Larry's lap.

Hey Jim,

Look at all of the things that we've been missing in the Philippines. LOL I think that we're going to find Larry's book very "interesting." Shocked)))

Hi Dave,

At peril to my marriage, I'll get the book - then perhaps I'll lose any desire I might have had to visit Olongapo :oO  You have it easy, all you have to do is talk to Jay -LOL!  One thing for sure, the book will be full of gritty honesty, bargirls, belches, and all Shocked)))

Hey Jim,

I'm anxiously waiting for Jay's book. He's going to have to change a lot of names to protect the "not so" innocent. LOL

No catfights, but there is a scene involving handcuffs and a riding crop!  Maybe Jean would like that part. Better not let her know about it before I get copyrights established.  Smiley

I'd like to know what became of the bargirl too.  Smiley  Maybe she got a mouthful someplace else.
