....... remember the RW's who used to post here on a very regular basis? One of them once said, and it seems like years and years ago ......... probably was !

"Remember the Golden Rule" !

"He who has the Gold, Makes the Rules".(Board protocol?)

What'a about a decorum that might encourage some of them back? After all, (and contrary to masculine beliefs) they have the 'gold' !!

Good luck to all

Was the Ukrainian DX contest... bummer missed out on that one.  Hey, I think you said you work satelittes, neat little program called 'pocketsat' (works great) for use wtih a PalmOS device and get the the free TLE program called 'GetPDB'.  Very easy to use.

Which bird do you use?

Hey Bill
I didnt know that it was the UA DX contest on the 2nd!  What an opportunity, especially with their hospitality. How things have changed since the old days when we could only get a WX & Sig report from the FSU. And they only worked from Clubs! Amazing.

I am not using any of the birds now Bill, too time consuming. But I was using the Russian earth sync birds from about RS-6 thru to RS-12. But as you know, 15 minute windows. I liked the  AO sun sync series and used 10 and 11 for years, but they all have a use by date, although 11 is still working, but it got fuel into the Rx during launch, sort of de-sensitized it by about umpdeen dB.

The UOSAT series were also excellent. I was recording the engineering telemetry on UO 11 after it flew through the Chernobyl cloud (period for UO11 is about 90 minutes). You may remember that UO11 had a Geiger on board to see what was causing failure with the CPU's, whether is was from the sun or some of the odd comets passing by. But to pick up the contaminated level at 290kM, when the bird had little variation between apogee and perigee nearly spun us out. "What was that", everyone was saying! And as you know, it took us a few days before we heard what exactly caused that level to rise.

But get onto 'Echo Link' Bill. 2M in, dial in the link you want to come out on, and its like talking on the phone, better! Free!! Find out the nearest EL to your QTH and use 2M. The nearest EL will actually be hard linked thru the net, and thru that link you can come out on any link almost anywhere on the planet at 2M as well. Staggering. I will find out some of the links in UA if you are using 2M (No, you use the search engine and check the url's for EL) however, I will find you some. But find out who has a EL in your region, but you will have to be able to access it, may need some power, who knows where it might be. Might be 2 miles up the road Bill(FM only), then your in with 1W on a piece of wet string.

Catch U later
Good Luck at that one!

I suggest that you ALL knock this immature sh__ off and do it quick - it negatively enhances your individual intellects.  By acting out with such
pre-school, immature, playground manners you are queering the value of the board for us others.  Do us all a favor and give this sh__ a f___ing rest.  Kapish?

Dan, I agree that Oscar seems of late to want to be the first and last word on every post - as if the rest of us illiterate fools couldn't have noticed Jack's post below - but you have made this point several times, and it's getting old.  I am glad Jack is back, but I would hate to see you go.  Remember that the Oscars and MarkTxs are in the "exciting" phase -- anxiously awaiting the arrival of their fiance - and having succeeded to this point in this process there is a natural tendency for them to feel that they have become the all-knowing experts on everything.  To the extent they are currently involved in the visa process, such current information is valuable, although like you I have questions whether Oscar's daily telephone reports  really speeds up the process, but I hope that it does.  You did the same thing -- the entire world wide web knew your fiance visa timeline on a regular basis, and no one complained.  I would suggest you continue to objectively point out inaccuracies when and if they occur in the blissful exuberance of these posters. However, you should realize that like everyone else, when his fiance arrives (hopefully in record time!), Oscar will have better things to do than comment on every post.  So please, enough of the cheap shots, Dan.  She'll be here by Thanksgiving.

Charles;

Coming from one of the guys on the board whose opinion I most respect, I appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Not to perpetuate the slugfest, but I would like to toss out a few things to consider:

* Yes, I was probably guilty of exuberance and letting people in on my timeline. Maybe I am wrong - so please tell me if so - but did I really "do the same thing" [as Oscar] and push my opinions and experience off as the ONLY way and try to be "instructing" to others? I just don't recall doing that - but it is obvious that Oscar does exactly these things. It seems (to me, anyway) that is is much more than mere 'exuberance' in Oscar's case - it is a sick compulsion that he is obsessed with being seen the 'expert' - even when it is most obvious he is not.

* In the instance below (about the K-1) - Oscar is WRONG. He is plainly mistaken and REFUSES to see it and his misinformation can be damaging. Fortunately, sfcolorado sees it and has gotten the information that HE needs - which was my intent.

* Oscar's announcement of Jack's return was also inappropriate and ill-judged. Jack had been banned from the board - and for some reason Patrick invited him back on. If there was to be any fanfare made, it would be (IMO) up to one of these other fellows to do it - not to Oscar.

Anyway - your comments are generally on-target and I value your opinion. I *wish* I could simply agree - but I know myself well-enough to know that when Oscar starts with his blowhard crap once again - I'll respond. Maybe I can be more delicate - but the truth is - the guys is a lost cause.

Fortunately, enough people know about Oscar's propensities and are concerned for Aliona that she will be OK after she arrives - no matter what Oscar may do.

Oh - and my bet is still that she won't make it by T-Giving. --smile--

Dan, Let me make myself clear:  1) I am tired of you and Oscar constantly picking a fight with Oscar.  You are far to intelligent to resort to name-calling, even in Russian.  I think you can make your points about Oscar without this.  2) I am tired of Oscar's grandstanding, the Jack post being the latest of many.  No, there's nothing wrong with reporting visa progress as you did and Oscar is doing at this time.  It is reassuring to those thinking about this and going through the process to know that it works, even if there are delays and a bump or two along the way.  I  welcome anyone's, including Oscar's insights on the process, although in my view it is not that complicated if, at least in the case of visas processed through Warsaw, to read the embassy website as well as the warsaw-visa-guide site and follow the directions.

Because I asked a poster who asked ME a question, what he had included in his petition I am promoting myself as an "expert"?  Because I asked to understaned where he was currently at, I am denying him important information?? LOL!

I have a "sick compulsion"... because I tell the board where I am at in my process??  That is interesting, because that is what I thought this board was FOR Dan??  It is really NOT here to be your own personal ego booster where you pretend to have all the answers all the time! LOL!

It was so "innappropriate" and "ill judged" to "announce" Jacks return??
Give me a break! LOL!  I said "Welcome back Jack"!  Oh my GOSH!  How could I do such a thing!! LOL!

And now you come on and ding on my fiance (whose name you even managed to spell incorrectly)??

Tell me Dan, WHO is the degenerating "lost cause" here??  You are nothing but a yery angry, nasty individual, who, like a child, throws a tantrum when things don't go exactly your way..

No contest, it is you Dan!  You are making a complete fool of yourself and it is you who cannot stop being obsessed.  It's not at all hard to see how happy YOU must be in your relationship to be acting like you are.. LOL!

He knows the rules and flagrantly breaks them time and again.  His childish behavior is ridiculous and degrades this board.  He tries desperately to pick fights..

Patrick is the one who makes those rules and those decisions.  Hopefully he will not turn a blind eye.
