Forest and Peat fires are blanketing Moscow in a "killer" smog.

If you have loved ones in Moscow it might be a good thing to help them get out for a "breather."

... in response to Smog in Moscow, posted by wilmc on Sep 5, 2002

That smog looks awful.  My girl in Moscow told me about it and I guess its been going on like that for a while this summer.  Unfortunately, I am planning a trip to Moscow later this month.  I did get her out of Moscow for a short "breather" last month.  We went to Costa Rica and she did something interesting.  We were in a hot tub by the beach far away from the city drinking strawberry margaritas and it began to rain lightly.  She was very careful to keep her drink covered to keep the raindrops from getting in.  I laughed and asked her why she was so concerned, and she said it was because, in Moscow, she is used to the acid rain and she did not want that to get in her drink.
