I am missing something. I goto the us site and they say I need :

"The fiance(e) petition (Form I-129-F) can be obtained from the INS Regional Service Center or local INS office in the U.S. closest to your residence. When the INS office sends you the petition, they will also include two G-325-A biographic information forms. You must fill out completely both the petition and biographic information forms. Please note that failure to mention any previous marriages on these forms will result in the petition being returned to INS from the relevant Embassy for readjudication. Your fiance(e) can also forward to you the one he/she will receive from the Embassy once her/his case is being processed. Your fiance(e) will be required to present the supporting financial documents at the time of his/her visa interview. Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) is not required."

plus they mention abits and any divorce papers...

Now previously on this site I was told about A BUNCH more paperwork
i-134, a certified copy of her birth cert (can't place that one anywhere) etc.. Anyone know why I need all this (especially the birth cert..??!) I have heard people mention doing all the paperwork at one time... but my experience with the us government is extra is thrown away/lost/ignored/ or at the worst the whole shebang gets returned because of whatever their reason is...

Smiley
anyone care to comment I would appreciate it.

Call the INS number, you'll get an automated response, leave you address.  They'll send something to you in 5-10 days.  Or you can browse them now on the INS/DOJ site, and fill them out on-line.  They're 'fillable forms', type on the form with your pc, and print them out, they like that. Legible.

The I-134 is for teh SECOND step. Get teh first packet from INS, and fill out the I-129F, and a G325 for both you and your fiancee. You'll need I think it is one adit pic right now of yourself, and one of her to submit with that. She'll need more pics later.  It would be quicker if she could fill out the forms on adobe from her pc and print them there, if possible, and mail them. One less mail to send there.

If you're going thru Vermont you'll hear back within 3 weeks when you send in the completed form, if not it will take longer, which will give you plenty of time to get all teh info together for 134F, and with your finances it will be a lot, and take some time.

The birthcert you need is a copy of yours to send in with the first packet to INS. You send the original to her in Russia, or wherever. She needs hers there also, and a copy translated into English, for the interview.

No, don't do it all at once. You know they're gonna lose it, right?  just send in what is required initially, I-129F, G-325A(yours and hers), copy of your bc, how you met, pics, plane tickets, letter saying you want to marry her, letter saying she wants to marry you, etc.   The other stuff gets sent overseas. good luck.

If you look at the INS site, they tell you what you NEED.

As I read it, this is what they ask for:

1. Proof you are a United States Citizen.

2. Intent to Marry within 90 days. (This can be a letter saying that you have met in person, and that it is your intent to marry as soon as possible, and then sign it. It should be in both your fiance's native language, and English, with the standard translation certification at the bottom

3. Evidence that you have met. (photos, the lease for the apartment or hotel bill, plane ticket receipts, etc.)

4. Copies of all divorce decrees.

5. ONE ADIT photo of both of you. (plus one for any children).

6. the G-325A Biographical form.

You can just send this off, and hope for the best, certainly.

There is a school of thought that says you should gather more than you need.

Here is the thinking:

First off, the INS may ask you for more information. It is in their power to do so. The request will go to you, you will then have to get this information, send it back to  them, and this all takes time.

If you have it all up front, then they will not have to ask for it, and it will save processing time.

Also, there is a theory (and I don' tknow if it is true, perhaps someone who has done it can attest) that if you have shown you have everything needed for the exit interview, that you can ask them to expedite the interview.

(There are two waiting periods: First the INS here must process your request, then you must wait for the consulate overseas to set the exit interview date...)

That is why many guys on here spend all of the time getting things together prior to sending off for the initial I-129.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, then send off what the INS asks for, and wait for them to ask for more. There is a chance that they won't ask for anything more... and then you'll be home free.

However, bear in mind that all of the things that the guys are talking about getting for the I-129F, you MAY also need for your interview. Although, from reading the board, it seems that if you go there to be with your fiance as she goes for the interview that they are not nearly as stringent on what they ask to see.

So, you are better off being over-prepared, really...

IMHO

your better to have three adit photos and make sure you have negatives in case they lose them. It also helps to have a letter of what, when and where you went to meet the girl. what you saw and how you met and you should have a letter  saying that she intends to marry you after she gets here. It has to say at least a approximate time of marriage. the letter should state I intend to marry so and so, with in the 90 days of arriving this is a must. you must also have her pass port copied and certified and all documents should from should be official meaning noterized and certified. the more you give them the better. Just remember keep the originals. rick also her birth certificate. thats just the beginning
