I found some decent ticket prices on a flight from JFK to Odessa - $1,500 in early November, I guess that's the best I can do.  I do have a few questions about taking our son Alek.  He will be eleven months old when we go and I am curious what we will need as far as a passport and visa.  Also, my wife just got her green card a few months ago, will she need anything else?  I am a little nervous about this trip, because it will be very unpredictable taking our son with us.  I assume they don't have car seats there, as I never saw any when I was there.  Has anyone here taken an infant to Ukraine, and what was it like?  I can just imagine trying to fit 2 weeks worth of baby food, clothes, and toys into our already full luggage.  Plus, by then he should be crawling good and maybe even walking.   God help us!!!!

Jeff!
I'm going into Russia in November or December this year with a child born back in late January here in US and the RW wife.
It's correct...The child will need his own US passport and visa.P.S.The US passport rates will be "doubling" come  August 1st so better hurry.Should be $30 for passport and $15 for Post Office to process.2 passport photos are needed for the child in order to process it.Can you believe it? Smiley)

I gotta laugh when I read your post because I had and get all those same anxieties and silly thoughts and questions...One thing I learned is that the child's airfare rate is only 10% of adult under 2 years old and he is allowed about 10 lbs. of individual luggage.

As for the rest...I hope your RW wife had the same good up-bringing as mine...Just sit back and let her and her family and friends take care of what they are good at in their homeland and have a good vacation.

With my in-laws...I can't do anything or stay anywhere else or they would be insulted.Get yourself a few bottles of some good vodka and when you get there eat and drink well and enjoy yourself.Let the ladies take care of the child.Go do some fishing, hunting and have some FUN AND RELAXATION...

I noticed LOT doesn't charge extra for infants but some other airlines do.  Luckily, we will be flying LOT the whole way.

Jeff,

your baby will be travelling just the same way you do - needs visa and visa registration later. So whatever way you will do your visa, do it for your kid as well.

You wife does not need anything else. Might be good idea to take a copy of your mariage certificate in case she has different names on her ticket and documents.

Have a good trip! It certainly going to be an adventure Smiley
