OK...

So, what is the best price you guys have seen to Kiev at this time of the year?

Who do you all use for your tickets?

Has anyone ever booked an international flight through Priceline?

Or does everyone just use a travel agent who specializes in this? (MDante99 comes to mind... but there is someone else on here who runs a travel agency... isn't there? Someone who HASN'T been banned?)

Mark,
Hey guy, you could try hotwire.com also. I used them for my trip in Dec/Jan. The price was "smoking" but the hours sucked. THat is the drawback, you see the fare and have to choose it before you see the flight itenerary. I flew out late in the evening the day I left and returned at 6 AM out of Madrid. That sucked.

This past January I bought a roundtrip ticket on Priceline from Casper WY to Moscow for 650.00.  This is the only time I have been able to get a price from them that was even close to what I found via Internet searches.  In this case it was 75.00 less then the best quote I received from other sources.

For this June and last August I bought my tickets via Tripmakers (www.tripmakers.com. both times they were about 100.00 cheaper then I could buy from anyone else.  Also, I have gotten a better price when I call them on the phone.

One thing I have noticed is that I often get some very low quotes but when I try to book them these fares are suddenly unavailable.

I got a price quote from mdante (I was curious).  he offered me a flight on Aeroflot for about 150.00 more then I finally ended up paying.

Try "Port Travel" in Chicago; (10:00am - 7:00pm)EST  312-829-4032. She has always been excellent with me and she has been able to get me my visa on very short notice thru the Ukrainian Embassy in Chicago. (some connection of hers) She quoted me a price of $860.00 round trip from Chicago to Kiev leaving in June and returning in August.
Hope this helps,
Steve D.

Guess I waited too long...

She could get me a flight in Mid-May... but June seems to be sold out...

Jack's got a guy who was finding reasonable fares. I think his name was Brian from Washington state.

I wondered why he {Mdante99} hasn't made any post in the last six weeks that I have been reading the board again.

I never believe his whole **** story and pre-nup arrangements.

Did he get banned for pushing his own site so much or go off on a non-believe again?

JR,
He got banned for his disruptive posts, not for pitching his site.

It's pretty easy to get a cheap flight to Germany...

Is there a good way of getting from Germany to Ukraine?

I know the rail system is good in Europe... but I don't think that extends to Euroasia... does it?

Mark,

Might be worthwhile to Ukraine International a call.

Their office is in Dallas I believe.

There are flights leaving from Andrews AFB, Scott AFB, Charleston, SC to Spain, Germany and Turkey.  Cost less than $50 for the flight on either a C-5, C-17 or a C-141.

Just my luck, I've got 6 more years til I can retire and fly darn near for free.

They do not accept credit cards.  I had a problem with them last year when they asked for more money after I sent them the money for the original quote. I should *not* have sent cash and I hope noone else makes the same stupid mistake.

How are the flights on Ukraine International?  I will be flying them soon from Amsterdam to Kiev. Were they typically running late or on time?
Thanks!

That flight originates in Kiev and turns arround and goes right back to Kiev.  I have flown Amsterdam to Kiev once and Kiev to Amsterdam twice with Ukraine International.  (The other time, I was on aflight operated by KLM)  The flight was on time twice and late once.

A travel agent might have access to better ontime data than this.

I also flew the Amsterdam to Kiev and back flight (last September).  Both were on time.  It was a KLM code share flight operated by Ukrainian Airlines.  Cost around $295 RT at that time plus the $435 RT from SF to Amesterdam.
