Gomel a "scammer city"?

Hello!
I am a student from Germany and I will visit Gomel (Belarus) in
April.
Johninm wrote some time ago, that Gomel is an infamous
"scammer city". Does anyone know why?
Also I would be glad to receive tips about places, where I can
meet nice women (an introduction agency is too expensive for
me).

I was reading about one guys bad experience in Belarus when taking his girl back to his hotel.  Any women going to hotels are treated like prostitutes.  It is better to get a flat for a few days or a week.  The 911 agency can set up a flat for you if you can afford it.  Another alternative is youth hostels.  One girl I was writing in Mink could not afford a flat and had to live in a hostel.    

Belarus and Moldova are 2 very desperate countries.  The income levels are about $20 USD a month.  Moldova has a lot of civil unrest and violence.

Bla-bla-bla. I'm from Belarus and married to AM for 6 years already.Yes the life in Belarus is more difficult. But scammers has nothing to do with it. There are scammeres everywhere.The matter of fact I think you'll find more RW to be choosy and picky about AM rather than BW since BW are not spoiled with AM attention as RW and UW. It is my point of view.

Those two countries are poorer but I didn't say anything about whether Belarus was more prone to scamming men.

In my opinion Bruno, Gomel has not been one of those cities which have had past record of a high percentage of scammers. However, Gomel IS located in Belarus where things are changing for the worse, not the better!

There is a LOT of scamming going on in Belarus. I think things overall are much worse in Belarus than they are in Ukraine and Moscow and thus, more desperate things are taking place. I can tell you, again in my opinion, that percentage wise speaking there is more scamming going on in Belarus when compared to Ukraine or Russia, with a LOT of scamming coming from Minsk.

One man who I had the pleasure of corresponding with in the past, an agency owner who dispised scam agencies and scam ladies, Anatoly Neverov, gave his life after discovering and exposing to the world a large, organized scam operation in Minsk. On September 12, one day after America was attacked, Anatoly was shot and killed in the hallway outside his flat.
