Sorry Spike...  The big chip manufactures always leap frog each other.  I will alway bet on the Intel processor any time.  Now Digital's Alpha chip was a leader but ...  they did not market it and Microsoft decide to not support Windows 2000 for the Alpha chipset...  Yes the Pentium III mother boards are not upgradable,  But given the speed of change in the industry it would not matter.  The real issue is not the speed of the processor but teh desighb of the Mother Board and what function it will be used for.  Data-Server, Web Server or Desktop.  As most industry software development is moving more and more towards nth tier and web the speed of the processor is less and less as important as internet bandwidth. Like PII to PIII the mother boards were not upgradabvle but who cares...  by the time the processor is out of date you will be wanting a new computer anyway...  Convergence of technology will be more dominate as we see more and more interation and web enabled hardware..  Hell you can already get varuous household appliances that can talk to a RS232/485 bus.  You answeering maching will act as a gateway...  Me I am still happy with my PIII laptop...  and my PII dual processor DEC Server...

It's pretty funny to listen to 60,000 people chanting the ref is a wanker at Old Trafford.

Cheers

...does a Canadian "Citezen" who is really a "Permante" resident of Australia, and who spends so much time at a keyboard (you be a computer geek right?), spell so badly?

In fact, I would think you would not make so many mistakes in the first place, since you're around keyboards all the time.

Have you been taking lessons from Spyke? The least you can do is read the danm post before you send it.
