I think most of the posts to date have been interesting.  To add to the debate Astrology is the for runner to Psychology, Whilst I remain open to the issue...  I consider that the Psychological profiles are of interest.  As to the conspiracy theory that the Soviets used Astrology to undermine religion is questionable to say the least,  To play the devils advocate was not the three wise men Astrologers...

In china the communist banded confusious...

Thanks for your input,.,..  Again I think it is a better option then throwing darts at photo's as someone suggested in there post below...

Apparently you either didn't read my post or you have some problem with comprehension. I did not say that the Soviets tried to use astrology to undermine organized religion, I did say that the suppression of organized religion may have lead to those  people not having been exposed to Christian teachings to seek out pagan practices due to the fact that by human nature----we all have the need for something to believe in.

Many RW interested in astrology and believe in horoscopes. I think you should look for Zodiac signs compatibility charts rather choose your woman by separate description of her sign.

Hmmmm! I like astrology! BUT, it doesn't always show what you can find out about a person in the book, you have to learn a person more when you talk to.
It doesn't always help to select your match either, Jeff and me do not match by astrology, but in life.... just fine!!:))

My experience is that more of them strongly believe in astrology than strongly believe in any organized religion.

While you're at it why not contact Sister Cleo or maybe even Diana Ross' psychic team (I'm sure they saw far enough ahead to know that you would be needing them---one last client). Those who depend on such are really grasping at straws------makes about as much sense as drawing a number out of a hat to make your decision. There are many in the FSU who believe in such pagan b.s., just like your supermarket tabloid horoscope readers here-----not a clue as to what they are doing.

at the Vatican? Astrology has been around for several thousand years in both fallen angel and pagan beliefs, but also in Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddism, and Christianity.

I'm not advocating Astrology, just pointing out the facts of history.

you want to find, it might not be the right answer. We can rationalize the answer we want from compatibility of known traits that people born under a certain sign are supposed to have, but as one of the above posts states----in real life the zodiac match means nothing. As for the zodiac being in St. Peters Basilica, I have no idea why it's there. From a Christian standpoint the use of such to try to predict the future is strictly forbidden, ref. Acts 16:16-18 and Deuteronomy 18:9-13. As for the particular interest that women from the FSU show for astrology, I would say that much of it comes from the Soviet goverment's efforts to crush organized religion in those countries and the basic need of people to have something to belive in.

Good post Lynn. I agree.

Most of the FSUW I have met see it more as cheap entertainment and do not believe in it as far as the predicting the future aspect. But many if not most take the personality/character/compatibility generalizations serious. Strangely enough, I have found that I can tolerate very few Taurus women! And I have found most Gemini women to be a little on the air head side!

An important distinction about looking to the stars to predict the future: this is obviously nonsense and a forbidden pagan practice (thanks for the cites). But there is one aspect to astrology that is the scientific part that has nothing to do with forbidden practices. Scientists have found that star, moon and planet positions affect moods and other behaviours. For example, animals and fish feed heavier when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (good time to hunt:) And when there is a full moon there is more criminal activity, car wrecks, drunkeness, etc. From what I have read, scientists really don't know why this is, they only know the correlation. Of course, that observation is a far cry from star worship, etc.

So it is a good question as to why the zodiac signs appear in the Vatican. These symbols represent a different section of the space and it's star constellation we view from Earth's perspective as it rotates around the Sun. So it is a good question as whether it is present for the historical astronomical reasons, or the step beyond star worship and/or the worship of the animal symbols assigned to each of the twelve phases/sections.

Best regards,
