Strange.  Recently I exchanged a few emails with a girl.  She sent me a photo.  But,  I have not downloaded it...I am a little cautious 'cuz I never got a email photo like this.  She says it is jpg.  But,  the file ext reads "doc".  And the size is 1.2 MB.  I wonder if it is really a photo...or maybe something else which I do not want.  Or a big nasty virus.  I have Mcafee...but I have questions about the file.  Thanks,  Tim

She was probably just using MS Word to group the pictures and scale the size.  No big deal.  Jpg files otherwise might just give you a huge picture when you look at it.

Not a probelm  just in case run a virus checker over the file...  The photo is imbeded into a Microsoft Document..

If you do not have a virus checker forward the prost to a hotmail account...  Hotmail has an inbuilt Virus checker..  its nbot a sure thing but it is better to play it safe..  shances are you have nothing to fear..  but fear itself.

Most MS Word documents are scannable for macro viruses. The best thing to do is to update your McAfee AV and scan the file before you open it. If your AV shield is active, a virus will not be able to cause much damage. Most macro viruses attempt to infect your Normal.dot template and other documents. Virus detection will catch this most of the time.

They just basically had a doc file made up with some photos and a profile of information.

I've never known a doc file that could contain any serious virus. I never had any problem. If you scan it and its clean, I would go ahead and open it.

I always did, and never got a virus...

If you have hotmail or yahoo mail account just forward it there and they scan your mail before you open it:)

Cherokee, you are so right,  this is what I do all times.  Hotmail works wonderfully for this.
