How long is a police certification good for?  This is for the Moscow embassy.  Our concern is that we got all ready for the interview well before the INS approval.  We are still waiting for the 2nd NOA from NSC.  The interview dates used to be 4-6 weeks after the 2nd NOA.  Now there is considerable uncertainity and it looks like about 2-3 months after the 2nd NOA.  So our police certifications could be 3-5 months old by the time we go in for the interview.  Getting new certifications is a small inconvenience.  But my RL doesn't want to waste the money on a translation if the certs expire at some point.  Thanks for any comments or info.

I posted the question to the list about the police certification to see if anyone had actual experience in the expiration of the certification.  I had already read the Doc Steen notes (but thanks for the suggestion as it is an excellent resource).  At the same time I wrote the Moscow embassy on the same question.  Their reply is pasted below.

A police certificate as well as the results of requested medical exam are
valid for 1 year.

Hi,

They are good for one year, although some people recommend not pushing them longer than six months.

If she moves to another place or takes a foreign trip in the meantime, that can trigger the need for a new report.  Otherwise, you should be just fine.
