A video question

Hello everyone, this is my first post to your great site although I have been a faithful follower for several months. Thanks for all the great input and answers, they have helped me very much.

I have met a sprcial lady and we have been writing for a month and a half. Her father is has a friend with a video camera and she wants to send me a tape. Here is my question, are the video standerds the same in Russia as the are in the US?

I would gues that 80% of the women you meet online
arecon artists and some of them are 70 yo ladies with
twenty or more aliases. They are no different than the
900 sex phone scammers here.

Chris I agree about sending money to women. Reading some of the stories on the blacklist site, I wonder what some men are using to think with!

However on SOME occasions, women use an agency to receive & send email. This maybe because they cannot find someone with a computer that they can share. Most agencies will try not to charge the girls very much, however they will make a charge & often girls are at subsistence level financially.

Let me suggest an example. A pretty girl places a profile on an agency. She is serious & not a scammer & lets assume that the agency is also not a scam agency. After her picture gets online, she can expect around 80 replies each day for say the first week. This then tails off down to about 8 or 10 per day for a few months. Even if each letter costs her a small amount to receive, she also has to travel to the agency by bus. This means that she could be spending a big part of her income on correspondence.

It's difficult I know, but I suggest that each man looks at their own situation carefully. Think with your head - not another part of you! The girls will need help with email costs. A possible course of action is for the man to mind his own source - either to help with emails, or translations. A good Russian girl would be only to happy for her man to arrange something, the scammer will want to remain with their own financial arrangements.

That's the rub isn't it. You cannot tell the difference from
an honest woman from the con artists. Their letters
sound exactly the same.

So who do you believe?

Neither! We cannot afford to see the woman's position
without running the risk of being suckered into a scam
artist's con.

You simply cannot tell the difference.

From the woman's point of view she should pick only
the few best ones, narrow it down to 1 or 2, and after a
half dozen letters or more THEN and ONLY THEN
should she ask for assistance. Then it's up to the man
jto accept the risk.

Most scam artists do not have the patience for a lengthy
con.

Next to not giving anyone money is to simply out last the
con artists.

This applies to the little hand held video cameras as well.

You see in Japan & USA we use NTSC and the rest of the world use SECAM/PAL.

I know in Ukraine the post will not send a video cassette, they screen it first.

You can use FedEx or DHL but the cost is about $100 from Ukraine to US.

I have used this company several times for conversions from PAL and SECAM to NTSC, and the reverse. They are very efficient and quick. They are out of Chicago.

The answer is no.  They use a different format but this can easily be fixed by you.  If she sends you a VCR tape you should be able to locate a video lab either in your city or in a neighboring city and just tell them you want to have that russian tape copied over into USA format and they should be able to do this with no problem at all.  The cost is not really that much to do it, maybe about 12 bucks or something.  Good luck,  Jim

No, Benjamin. The video standard used in Russia is the same as that used in Europe. Depending on where you live, you can have the tape converted to NTSC (our standard) for about $20, but prices do vary. If it turns out to be something that will be on-going, for about $350 you can buy a Samsung VCR that plays multiple formats and outputs to NTSC.
